Exum Putting In Some Work

To be honest watching exum breath during the games he needs some serious high altitude training. I understand going to LA to work out but there is a reason runners train in high altitude.

Atleast get him wearing the breathing restrictors they have now.

I cant wait for the Jazz new training facility to be built.

Again, he's just a mouth breather. It looks bad but it doesn't mean he's gassed.

Love watching his on court stuff but some of those exercises are totally new to me, not sure what to make of it but I really hope the Jazz are watching him 24/7 over the off season. If I was the FO I wouldn't let Dante go and find his own gym and let them create a program for him...

Happy to see the Kid finally getting the opportunity to put some work in though.

I think the jazz screwed up playing Exum at the off guard position. Doing so is not the best way to showcase his skills which is speed speed speed!! Coupled with length. He can't do that playing off the ball sitting at the corner three. We saw what he can do playing pg in that last game. He needs to play with that same intensity and it's hard to do that if u don't play to his strengths instead of his weaknesses.

If the jazz don't resign Hill, I want Exum to start at pg. the jazz showed they could win consistently with Exum starting, and giving him the the job to start training camp would be huge to his confidence.

He was drafted 5th overall, and its time to give him his shot.

Where is Exum training at? He needs a new strength coach/ sports performance coach, that workout is straight garbage for him.

As well as they need to have him finishing with his left... on one of the videos he turns all the way around to get to his right hand on a layup.

Sorry to be negative... these vids didn't inspire a lot of confidence. pretty average workout stuff.

I think he's a combo guard... he can use his speed to attack closeouts. He struggles when running the offense... I think he needs to handle the ball more, but I don't see him as a full time primary ball handler... especially since he can't shoot off the dribble. Get him the ball in a triple threat where a guy has to close out and I think he could excel.

He needs some self awareness... just get better... don't worry about position. He can guard three positions. Be more flexible and contribute in the best way.

I've gotta laugh at this take, man. Finishing on the other side of the basket on a play like that is just as important as finishing with the left. And do you really think these clips were the complete workout? Did you see the multiple lefty drives and dunks that were in another clip?

The fact that Exum is already on a program that is almost certainly given to him by the team is a great sign for his development. All the skills he worked on in the video were things that he needs to improve.

This is why a growing contingent even in this forum think Exum should be moved .Exum believes he can thrive and be great as a PG and that thought isn't changing.Exum under Snyder and 1st year back from ACL had been under a tight leash with no room for even the slightest mistakes or get buried to the bench. This is hardly the way to grow confidence in a player. So here we have a lot of exaggeration saying Exum can't handle the basketball and can't run a offense. When he plays freely we can easily see that isn't the case at all.For Exum playing defense creates his offense ,meaning pressuring the ball, playing with high energy and running with speed both directions WHICH is opposite of the Jazz game.
Jazz are going opposite direction of todays NBA style of higher scoring and faster offenses.Which a greyhound like Exum fits perfectly.I hate seeing Exum jog up/walk up the court and go to the corner,it's a waste. If circumstances play out that Hill moves on to greener pastures and Exum inherits the job of PG for the Jazz ,then he has a loud contingent here thrashing him daily before he even turns 22 yrs old.The only thing I've seen from the kid that he needs more of ...is game experience to show what he can really do and be allowed to make a mistake and not be yanked to the bench.I swear NO OTHER player his age is on a tighter leash than Exum.

With the ball in his hands (especially in early offense) he can use his speed way more effectively while already moving as opposed to starting at 0 on the wing. He definitely needs to improve his midrange game, and also he needs to get a ton more chances to actually use it in a game. Every great advantage he has comes when he plays PG. In the Jazz positionless basketball he can definitely play PG, and should be developed as one since those skills (PnR play, pushing the ball early) are things that all the wing players need to have anyway.

The real question here is do you want him playing with some other PG, or do you want him being part of a crazy long lineup as the PG with bigger SG, and SF players. To me the answer to that is obvious unless you somehow have a great PG. If not, the team will be much better off with his length and defense on 1's, and (assuming he improves) his ability to be one of 3 guard/wing ballhandlers.

I believe his point was we got our asses kicked. That's nothing to be proud of.

The substantial growth as a team and in individual players is absolutely something to be proud of. Winning a 1st round series is something to be proud of. The growth in the coaching staff is something to be proud of.

I am not over hurt at getting swept by arguably the best team in the history of the sport. Especially since no one has beaten them and the Jazz did the best. Yes, the Warriors are a problem (a huge one) but I am highly encouraged by the progress of this team.

Now DL needs to do something to push the Jazz even further. Now the hard part begins.

No you are wrong he went with his right hand from the left side and finished with the right hand... it wasn't a reverse. That **** getting tossed. Just not something I would want shown on my workout video:

I understand this wasn't the whole workout... this stuff gets out to impress people I guess? I just didn't come away impressed that's all.

Attacking closeouts is kind of ideal for fast guys... the defender is in a tough position. On the fast break he can be effective but anyone can run the break and it might be better for him to release completely rather than wait on the wing for the outlet.

He's an easy cover in the PnR because he can't shoot off the dribble. Defenders just drop under and collect the missed shot.

He can be a PG in our system but shouldn't be the primary ball handler until he can handle the ball better and shoot off the dribble.

I don't think Exum is going to be able to be an effective NBA PnR player without actually getting to do it consistently. There has to be a point where you let a guy play a specific role. right now he is artificially limited by what they allow him to do. He might fail if given a larger workload, but it is anything but certain that he will. his results have been mixed, which makes it possible to see his career going in many directions.

Assuming he works hard this summer, I want him to be put into a primary ballhandling role and let him gain experience next year. If that is with a second team unit, and he also plays off the ball sometimes I'm fine with that. But this idea that he should play as a spot-up shooter (he's not a floor spacer at all) in this offense, yet somehow magically learn how to be a PG is ridiculous. Let him fail or succeed, and if he can't handle being a pg then he's probably not going to be a good NBA player for the Jazz anyway.
