Exum Putting In Some Work

I'm hopeful for Exum. I think we can all agree that him putting in the time, effort and guided practice is a good sign.

Come on, you baby deer! Show us something! Dammit! I haven't rooted for a player to be good this much since CJ Miles.

Glad to see Exum change his mind on the summer league. I was surprised when they first said he wasn't going to participate.

He is going to play in summer league?!!!
Where did you hear that?

I posted this in another thread, but want to add it here as well:

Our latest big news is Dennis Lindsey's comments after last night's draft on Exum. Said Exum has responded in a huge way this summer to the 'truth' Quin shared with him in the exit interview and that the player you're going to see next year is one that's made explosive growth. Dennis rarely, if ever, gives false praise - he was considerably more muted last year on Exum.

My hunch as to what's going on:
--The Jazz think they've got very good odds to re-sign Hayward.
--The growth they've seen from Exum this summer has convinced them that he's the player they've always thought he is, but he'll likely need another year before he completely takes over the reigns.
--Paying George Hill an excessive amount of money over the next four years would risk their ability to retain Exum and Hood.
--They need a cheaper PG who will be able to provide starter minutes for at least half, if not all of next year, but will also be willing to take a back seat after that as Exum rises above them in talent.
--Donovan Mitchell is someone who can back-up Ingles at the 2, play spot PG minutes, and compete with Exum to make them both better.
--Burks is on his way out at the trade deadline, assuming rehabbed value.

He's going into his fourth season and he's only 21?! Is his birthday tomorrow or something?

That five minute stretch against Golden State in the playoffs was awesome. If we really beleive that he can be good this year then it's not smart to sit him behind a 30+ PG who we just gave $20 million+ annually. But how can we trust him? And how canyou prove to your star player that this dude is better for the teams success than the guy who was very good for us (when he played) last year?

Beverley or Teodosic seem like good players to get if we want to give Exum a chance but still have a backup plan. I think giving Hill that much money (or not giving it to him) will be the biggest indicator on how we actually feel about Exum.

Unless of course Gordon gave some ultimatum, but in the case we get both back you won't hear me complaining much.

On Thursday, Dante Exum posted a photo on his Instagram account working with Baron Davis on the University of Utah campus.

Baron is still looking good. Does he want to sign a veteran minimum this year?

I once heard the Jazz were close to acquiring Baron Davis, sometime before his time with the Golden Gate Bridges. I liked him as a player before he went there, I hope Dante can learn from him.
