What's new

Exum states that he absolutely feels more comfortable at the point...

He might feel more comfortable when he's at the point, but I'm feeling more comfortable when he isn't. His handle is just not up to par for the position. He coughs it up any time he faces pressure with the ball. This to me is the no. 1 thing he needs to work on this summer if he wants to be a PG in the league, because his current handle is not NBA PG-level.

I think this why I think he needs to go to SL and just play the point. It sounds like he does not want to go to SL. I think the Jazz and him are at an impasse. Perhaps they can trade him to OKC.

You mean like in game 4 where he drove in traffic and jammed in their faces? Lotsa pressure in that game, and he did just fine. He's getting better and I for one am stoked about his development after the injury, as it could have gone the other way. I'm not too worried about labeling him one way or another. Utah has guys who can handle the ball and be playmakers, and doesn't really need a PG to dominate the ball in the Stockton/D-Will sense. And even with that, I see a lot of promise with Exum as a playmaker.

As long as Exum can continue to get back to being a top defender at the PG spot, his role in the offense will continue to come along, just so long as Quin doesn't put him in one of his WTF lineups that make you think he's on the coke again.

Deron Williams was really upset after his rookie year, I'm sure folks here remember that. Frustrated that he didn't feel he was getting opportunity he wanted. Dante frustration seems similar.

Williams worked that summer, came back and dominated. Hope for the same from Dante.

Just saw an article stating that if hill signs a new deal with us Exum will want out

And he should. His development has been terrible. I don't blame Utah for what they did, and I don't blame Exum for wanting out.

Hell, Exum never wanted to be here in the first place. He made that clear.

So are we talking about Exum being a PG or the starting PGOTF? If the Jazz are trying to become a 55-win team, there's a limit to how many minutes Exum is going to get. I don't think the Jazz are ready to hand him the keys as a starter, and he'll have to earn his minutes. Maybe he gets 20 mins/night playing both the 1 and the 2.

Any links on that or are we speculating on some vague pre-draft comments about how he likes LA?

Why does he play at the 2? Like, at all? His handle isn't great, his shot isn't great. He doesn't move in the offense well.

He has shown he can defend well (his rookie year) and he can run the pick and roll. He's always stated that he is a PG.

So, why are we trying to move him? Because he is tall? Makes no sense. About as dumb as trying to turn Burks into a PG.

He should play 20 mins a night as a PG. He should have played that way all year long as the backup PG. Screw Mack, screw Neto.

Hell, we freaking TANKED for him. If he doesn't become an All Star, we aren't winning a title. Yet, we play Neto and Mack ahead of him? Makes no sense, none at all.

Winning games to keep Hayward is goal #1. Developing Exum into an All Star is goal #2.

If Exum doesn't pan out, we wasted three years. Yet, we played Neto and Mack over him.
