Exum Update

I think calling Dante confused is pretty unfair. Again this was a narrative that was put out there by Locke and others to explain why Dante was getting benched. Every player gets out of position occasionally, and every player gets drawn into fouls. We just focused on every single mistake Dante made and used that as justification for not playing him. And all along the way Mack was out there doing worse things and being a worse defender with not much of a peep from the same people killing Exum for it. There are certain fans/media (not saying you) who just feel the need to justify everything a coach or FO does. It can definitely go the other way as well where fans just complain about everything. I like to think that I'm not this way. I do think they badly mishandled Exum last year, though I'm very happy with both the coach and FO overall.
I agree with your point on playing Mack over Exum. Frankly, that is why we have this conundrum over how much pt Exum should get and at what position when he comes back. These issues should have been resolved last year, but Exum wasn't given much of chance to grow into his role and was relegated to 3rd string (behind Mack for hellsakes!). We saw a glimpse of what he could do against GS and I hope he can have a much bigger role in this year's playoffs. But we need to make the playoffs first.

On SEN radio’s breakfast show on Monday morning, Tony Jones of the Salt Lake City Tribune reported that Exum is “within 10 days to two weeks away from making his season debut.” He went on to further detail how Exum’s workout intensity has recently increased, and that full contact drills are now underway.

Not a big enough sample size. The guy is a better version of Lilsap...

You will cry if Royce loses minutes to Exum? I mean - you guys think Exum can't shoot, well Royce can't shoot nor get to the rim whenever he wants. But he is an excellent complementary player who is strong defensively. Having said that, he can get torched by quick guards (like all of us).

I am just concerned at what kind of role/opportunity Exum will be afforded.
Iawtp let’s not ever say “friggin” and Royce unless we are referring to him as Royce “Friggin” O’Neale when he does something awesome.

Royce does a lot of things that help us win... may never be a consistent double digit scorer but he has some elite role player potential.
So we are back to Exum having to earn every minute he gets are we? No one else has had to this year, just let the kid play.

This is like friggin Survivor. That's why I am going hard at Royce. Burks and Neto aren't even really in the rotation, freaks me out when hearing Exum will get some of those minutes . It has to be minutes from Royce. But ultimately, I want Exum extinguishing Rubio based on Exum's on court performances (and then Royce can be back to do his thing).

If he plays poorly it may hurt our chances of making the playoff's and getting swept in the first round.

You assume too much. Jazz have a legit shot at 5th or 6th seed. And, if they do, have a legit shot of making it to second round.

I've only read a few of the comments in here. X will get minutes. Quin has been having DM45 run the Point when he pulls Rubio out. Quins system really doesn't have a true PG. DM and X will run a 2 guard offense just like in summer league and it will look beautiful.

X will get mins from rubio, and Royce and probably a little from ingles. 10-15 mins of burn per game till the end of the year.

x will eventually replace rubio. we really arn't that invested in him anyways. X already has a better 3 pt then him and will fit in better in the offense. IDK if ya'll have noticed but rubio is getting pulled out more frequently. and his mins have dropped slightly, this trend will continue.

The jazz Org believe in advanced statistics. They trust the numbers to show them how to improve and what gives them the best odds of success. (Hence hood being traded)

I am super excited to see X back on the court! anyone that takes mins from rubio is a hero of mine.

****Rubio could have re-built the salt palace with all the bricks he has thrown up this year!****

We have pretty much zero shot at 5/6 seed. There’s no way enough teams ahead of us will lose enough games

Oh and btw **** Gordon Hayward and his little buddy Shelvin Mack

I mean he's shooting 37% from three, which we'd all be elated if Exum did. He plays very good defense, passes the ball well, and rebounds like an MFer. But yeah he can't get where he wants so we should not play him over Exum. For that matter maybe bench Joe Ingles for him too.

Unless Exum comes in and lights fires immediately, I'm not giving him Royce's minutes. Royce is an excellent complementary player... to date Exum has not proven that level of ability.

When Exum comes back, he'll get a 5 min slot in the 2nd quarter. If he does well, he'll get more time. Otherwise, garbage time is the only other way to be on the floor when the Jazz are fighting for the final playoff spots.

nah doubt it. They'll play him to see what he's got. Unless he's disastrous, but he can't possibly be worse than Burks

I hope you'll be completely wrong. I expect Exum to eat up all of Neto and Burks' minutes. And I expect him to eat into Rubio, Ingles and Royce's minutes a little bit. Frankly the future of this team and seeing what pieces fit are more important than a 1 year playoff run. It's fun to chase the playoffs like this but I want to see how these young guys react to making that run. And I'm hoping that Exum is one of the guys helping with that.

Good God.

Just let him play his way into the rotation like anybody. He’s going to be fine. All this coddling rationale on what he “deserves” is so sickening.

Jazzfanz think the only way to get better is game minutes. They don't believe practice helps (despite everything the announcers said over and over and over during last game after a long time off). Practice doesn't matter to most here, only live game time. Don't you know that's how Corbin ruined Burks, Favors, Hayward, Carroll, Kanter, Gobert, Hood, Clark and Evans?

dude absolutely zero chance. The teams ahead even with some hiccups, we're not going to see enough of them screw up enough games to jump from 10th to 5th.

Minni's next 5 is BOS, GSW, WAS, SAS, HOU. They could easily go 0-5. SAS could lose their next 3. But the key is Utah winning 8-2 every 10.

Absolutely zero chance? Lmao

The Lakers don’t have “absolutely zero chance” of making the playoffs. That is just a dumb thing to say when we are 3 games behind with 18 to play. Not to mention the difference in ease of schedules. I honestly have no idea how you even come to that conclusion. We could be a game behind the Spurs by the end of the week easily.
