Exum Update

mmmm sweet, sweet crow .. well seasoned i hope
It was just a drumstick for now, but I thoroughly enjoyed it! If we can sustain this kind of play I'll go for the breast next and even make soup out of the bones. I think tonight was a combination of superb play by the Jazz and bit of poor shooting on Indy's part. I simply can't say enough about Goberts presence, he is unbelievable at this point! Please, please don't let him get hurt.

Do u not forget jazzfanzers going ******* on Rubio earlier in the year?? Most including me were calling for him to be benched, then he figure and has played much better, and Crowder is a proven vet who legitimately needs time to acclimate to his new team

Are u saying he deserves to play because of upside?? God I hope not.

Look, I'm as big a supporter of Exum as anyone here, and even I know u can't just throw Exum out there logging heavy minutes when we are trying to make the playoffs. Exum has high upside, but that isn't getting realized in the next 15-20 games, however many are remaining in the year. The minutes he gets if he gets back will depend on how good his defense is that's where his value lies for this team this year.
Not a big enough sample size. The guy is a better version of Lilsap...

You will cry if Royce loses minutes to Exum? I mean - you guys think Exum can't shoot, well Royce can't shoot nor get to the rim whenever he wants. But he is an excellent complementary player who is strong defensively. Having said that, he can get torched by quick guards (like all of us).

I am just concerned at what kind of role/opportunity Exum will be afforded.

This is like friggin Survivor. That's why I am going hard at Royce. Burks and Neto aren't even really in the rotation, freaks me out when hearing Exum will get some of those minutes . It has to be minutes from Royce. But ultimately, I want Exum extinguishing Rubio based on Exum's on court performances (and then Royce can be back to do his thing).

I mean he's shooting 37% from three, which we'd all be elated if Exum did. He plays very good defense, passes the ball well, and rebounds like an MFer. But yeah he can't get where he wants so we should not play him over Exum. For that matter maybe bench Joe Ingles for him too.

Unless Exum comes in and lights fires immediately, I'm not giving him Royce's minutes. Royce is an excellent complementary player... to date Exum has not proven that level of ability.[/QUOTE]

That 3pt % is regressing hard. And beasting rebounding from a guard is nigh on meaningless.

Ingles can run the offense as a secondary option. You want Royce running the offense?

The guy is Millsap (+1).

Dante Exums best game ever is an average Mitchell game. Exum could still be an elite defender and a 3 point stud, however he's never going to be a star.

Dude. Calm down. No one in here is Quin, nor are you Dantes agent.

I get you. But can't you sense it is already happening again elan_?? People are preparing the narrative that Exum is going to suck in his forst 30 seconds on the court, which will justify his benching as per normal From Any Larsen, Locke and history of the way Q has used him... I'm just feeling pessimistic. Like a kid who believes Christmas really is being cancelled this year

But all youre doing is making sure his haters go harder just to rub it in your face.

Exum looked great this offseason. He’s firmly in the team’s long-term plans. I hope he can acclimate to the lineup quickly, because I prefer him to Neto (although I thought Raul played well tonight.)

If Dante can give the Jazz Danny Green-ish production, then he’s still a good investment. I think he’ll do that, and then some. Just hope that he gets the chance to make mistakes. Mitchell, O’Neale, Rubio and Crowder have all been given a lot of leeway to make mistakes and keep playing through them. I feel like each of those players, as well as the team overall, are better because of that.

This kind of talk .. smfh
I’m a huge fan of Exum, but he’s scored 20+ one time in his career. I think he’ll become a more consistent scorer now that Hood is gone (and Burks will follow next year). . . but surely you can see why people feel that way. His upside is still amazing. I’m going to focus on that and hope he lives all the way up to it.

Thats a bit silly. Hes never had the opportunity too nor is that his game.

I didn’t suggest anything otherwise, but I can understand the feeling from fans relative to his draft position - even though he’s still a huge project. Like I said. . . Danny Green. I’m not asking for much. I think he’ll get to that level (which is a solid starter on most teams) pretty easily.

Fair enough - but he hasn't been given enough opportunities to run the offense. You do realise this guy has had a 12 assist game despite never having ever had a play drawn up for him (per Locke).

Danny 'all thumbs' Green?? Are we serious. Dante is not simply a 3 and D prospect. This **** is going to get ugly...

Not necessarily 3&D. That’s not his game and a poor use for him. I’m hoping for him to play great on ball defense, drive and score/dish when the defense collapses, toss good lobs to Rudy and knock down a higher percentage of open 3’s than he has up to this point. I’m just not expecting huge numbers from him. Maybe Parker-lite is a better description.

Regressing down to Dante levels?

Royce regularly grabs contested rebounds out of his area... a completely important thing.
