NUMBERICA'S case:

"All of the teams in this tournament can score. Most of the players on All-Time lists are there because they scored. My team is built around the idea that these games will be battles, and that the team that has the heart to try to stop the other team has the advantage. Every player on my team plays great defense or plays with immense heart, in addition to being very well-rounded, cerebral, and productive players.

It all starts with The Big Fundamental and The Big "O". I wanted fiery players, but Duncan and "O" are the eyes of the storm.

Defense: Defense has always been about the rim. That starts with bigs. My original intent was to go with a 3-man big rotation of Duncan, Zo, and Dikembe, but Sheed belongs in here as well. All of those bigs are able to switch and block shots. Simultaneously, they can guard opposing big men exceptionally well. Additionally, a big rotation built around strong defense enables my perimeter defense (spear-headed by Marion, Sloan, and Iguodala), to be played closer and as physical as the officials will allow with a minimized concern for driving (including going over screens on exceptional shooters). In short, I plan to shutdown the 3-pointer and coral shots to long mid-range, and still have the length and desire to contest those shots. Reggie will play his best defense with offense, running whoever is guarding him ragged into bigs that set strong picks like Zo and Sheed. Sloan will serve to smother, take charges, and either break another player's nose or get someone ejected.

Offense: The offense is built around Robertson and Duncan with Reggie as the primary release-valve. I plan to put Duncan and Zo in lots of pick-and-rolls. Whichever of them is being guarded by a plodding big man will get the lion-share of setting the pick for the ballhandler. If Duncan is guarded by the better rim-protector, he will be given possessions in the high post, looking for the best option and having a marginalized opponent defense. Having more mobile Cs in addition to a truly great transition players in Iguodala and Marion will get me plenty of early offense opportunities as well. This is an offense built to get inside baskets, either through easy opportunities, or hard-fought ones, which will make perimeter shots more open ones (this is exactly why I picked Reggie and Billups, they don't need to dominate the ball, they can shoot when the shot is there, and do it as many times as you'll let them). Whoever I didn't mention will get their shots as part of running plays and a breakdown in the defense (kick out, around-the-horn passing, cuts, shots off of screens, working the baseline)."

UGLI baby's case:

This team speaks for itself. Total domination.

I read Numberica's description and was like, "damn, that's a good case right there."

But then I read UGLI's and was just like, "it's hard to argue with total domination."

For the record, UGLI intended his team to be all white, but he thought Moses was the biblical Moses and the rest is, well, history.

This is the truth. All of it.

Pretty tough choice. I'm leaning towards Numb because he actually put some effort into it.

Damn this is tough. UGLAY's team is better on paper but Duncan's dominance finding Reggie on off ball screens is a killer. Also, I'd consider starting Deek--one of the greatest shot blockers of all time--to counter Russell (the same). I don't know if Duncan can guard Moses can guard Duncan either. Bird over Marion is a lock for Ugh, but then Sheed comes in & spreads the floor (when good) for gNome. Don't know Big O, but Billups slowing Kidd as the backup while spreading the otherside? Damn! But UGuy's front line might not give a damn.

Crack a Beer! to this.

UGLI's front line will not be able to guard PnR. That should seal it but I guess we'll see what democracy says.

No. uNumerican just thinks youre too dumb to figure this out for yourself. He thinks he needs to spell it all out for you slow people. I got way more respect for you guys than that. It's a basketball team and some of the most brilliant basketball minds on the Internet are here. I trust you can figure it out without me holding your hand.

Bill Walton was considered to be a pretty good defender (from what I've read), so I don't know why they wouldn't be able to guard PNR.
