Farewell Taco Bell

I doubt I will be partaking of their menu anytime soon.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — An Alabama law firm claims in a lawsuit that Taco Bell is using false advertising when it refers to using "seasoned ground beef" or "seasoned beef" in its products.

The meat mixture sold by Taco Bell restaurants contains binders and extenders and does not meet the minimum requirements set by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to be labeled as "beef," according to the legal complaint.

The class-action lawsuit was filed Friday in federal court in the Central District of California by the Montgomery law firm Beasley, Allen, Crow, Methvin, Portis & Miles.

Attorney Dee Miles said attorneys had Taco Bell's "meat mixture" tested and found it contained less that 35 percent beef.

Miles said the lawsuit does not seek monetary damages, but asks the court to order Taco Bell to be honest in its advertising.

"We are asking that they stop saying that they are selling beef," Miles said.

Haven't been much of a TB fan since I was around 17. The quality of their ingredients is my biggest complaint.

This thread reminds me of an incident way back in the late 70's where a local Mexican restaurant here in Utah was busted for using canned dog food as the main ingredient in their tacos and burritos. Up to this point they were pretty popular.

This cracks me up. It tasted good so people would flock to the restaurant. Once they found out it was canned dog food nobody would eat there regardless of how great it tasted even after the dog food was eliminated from the equation. So what's more important? Great taste and crap ingredients or crap taste and great ingredients?? It's not like dog food will kill you.

Well, a resraurant that would serve dog food has destroyed their reputation. Many things can be made to taste good, people expect a certain level of quality in the ingredients. If they're putting dog food in the tacos what else would they do to your food?

The question that begs to be asked is why anyone would be surprised by this revelation?

My question is, what exactly are the "fillers and extenders" in their so-called beef.

And personally I enjoy a hot dog in a taco. But no ketchup or taco sauce please.
