Hahah yes Maynard is really a character. He knows no matter what he will do, people will still love him and buy their music, i find it hilarious. The band makes up for their lack of interaction with the crowd with their light show. Was the light show any good at that outdoors theater? I think it would be a lot better indoorsI don't know about him, but I saw Tool in 2001 at Red Rocks. They put on a pretty good show, although I'm sort of a fan of the lead singer engaging with the crowd and Maynard pretty much didn't do that. I guess Maynard has a reputation of being a total a-hole, so it could have been worse I guess (and I say this as a big fan of Tool, well, at least their first three albums. I love Opiate to death). He (and the rest of the band) did set a sort of cool, darkish atmosphere.
