Favors' clutch shot

In all honesty, Mirotic has been great next to Davis (and with an increased role) and I don’t see any way that NO can prioritize keeping Cousins over Niko.

At the same time, it wasn’t worth the Jazz 1st round pick to trade for him. . . but he clearly could’ve been worth that value and more if the Jazz has traded Burks to get off his last year like the Pels did with Asik.

I’m still very happy with Favors and hope he sticks around for the foreseeable future. There’s no way that Utah should have lowered the protections for that pick like the Pelicans did. There was a very real risk that they could’ve given up a lottery pick for a guy who was on a hot streak.
I think niko is worth more than our first this year.
I think we should have traded the pick for him.

Ehh, Mirotic is going to look way better in New Orleans offense than he will anywhere else. I wouldnt overrate him too much..

#1 - I don't think we should give him a big contract. I just don't. Off the court, it's hard to find a guy as great as Favors. On the court, I still have my doubts that he is absolutely essential to getting us to the contender status. If he makes $15 the next few years, that screws us in a lot of ways. If we keep him for $10, it's very worth it.

#2 - I don't think Klay will be in play for us at all. I would love to have him, but I just don't see it being possible.

#3 - I personally would rather wait and try to sign somebody like Tobias Harris, Mirotic, Jeremy Lamb, Stanley Johnson, or Kaminsky. All of these guys offer us some flexibility on the offensive end.

I think someone would overpay him honestly. If we could get him at a fair price, for sure! But i'm waiting for summer of 19'

Ellis is right. We had no idea we'd catch fire the way we did at the deadline. Lowering the protections would have been stupid as hell.
We weren’t getting a pick that was higher than 13... I was arguing that until I was as blue in the face as DWill in the last game thread, but nobody was having it.

I'd rather keep favors than get any of those guys.

Considering what the Jazz did with the most recent 13th pick, they’d have been dumb as **** to trade it for Niko with only top 5 protection at that point of the season. I’m still not sure that a (likely) one year rental is worth giving up a guaranteed cheap contract at #21 tbh, but I could get on board.

Yeah, but we valued that 13th-ish pick much higher because our perspectives were very warped from Donovan. It’d be like hitting a couple half-court heaves and then passing up dishing for some open layups because “we’ve seen how well we can hit half-court heaves.”

Anyway, what’s passed is past. Who cares.

It’s dangerous to trade a future pick without knowing who will be in the draft (strength of the class) or where you’ll be picking. Overvalued or not, the Jazz could have dropped into the bottom ten teams if any number of things went wrong. Best not to waste lotttery picks when out gave them. Especially when it looks like a potentially strong class.

It looked possible we could get a top 5 pick at some point.

It is what it is. It's Mirotic, not LeBron. It doesn't matter that much.
