What's new

Favors, Hayward and Burke

Are you surprised that our bench performed better against the Miami Bench than our starters performed against the Miami starters?

Rough game for our back court. Hayward looked like he had no energy and Trey's shot just wasn't falling.

Have to say that I saw burks (a bench player) ballin against d wade, bosh, lebron, ray allen (starters)

Ray Allen's just a spot up shooter now.

And yes Burks was indubitably ballin, but the OP was tossing out +/- statistics like free pencils at a job fair.

Trade them immediately for Haslem, Roger Mason Jr., and Joel Anthony who were all at +4 for the Heat... That point difference would've swung the game!

I'm not putting too much into those numbers...Trey had a bad game and didn't make much of an impact on the game, Favors played okay, and Hayward disappeared as expected, he'll have at least one good game before the end of the year. Defensively, we looked like a bunch of pansies out there, especially Burks getting manhandled by old man Wade. That's when the blowout started.

If Hayward only has good games "every once in a while" how is he averaging so many points, rebounds and assists?

Hayward is in the top 10 in the league in shot attempts. If you shoot it enough times, the points will come, no matter how poor your FG% is. And when you say "so many points, rebounds, assists" what is your definition of "so many"? Hayward ranks 44th in points per game, 91st in rebounds per game, 38th in assists per game...really, nothing to be bragging about. He does rank in the top 10 in the league in total turnovers though, if that makes you feel any better.

Competitive players perform well against strong teams! Hayward often struggles against strong teams.

Hayward also ranks 138th in Assist/Turnover Ratio. LOL.

Which is dumbfounding when you consider Trey has a insanely low TO% and a great assist/turnover ratio, yet Corbin loves to make Gordon the facilitator on many of the offensive sets.

The few games when Burke dominated the ball Hayward had his best games(other than the 30pt game), even Burks got hotter(and has been fairly hot since).

You're also listing all of these stats separately.
How many players in the league are averaging Hayward-esque points rebound AND assists?

While we're at it, how about how many SG/SF's are averaging these numbers as well? Mr. Stat Man......

Great question. Also, Gordon's shooting percentage and points totals will improve. As will his assist to turnover ratio. I see him as a guy who will get about 18 points 5 rebounds and 5 assists with about 46% shooting when he is on a good team. He will probably average less than two turnovers per game as well. He is going through some growing pains right now, and is still very impressive about 75% of the time.
