Favors, Hood (the #23) and Exum (the #5) for...

Would you make a trade today with Cleveland?

I disagree.

He would be the third biggest shooting guard on our own team though
6'6" is taller thane average for shooting guards in terms of height. Most SG's are in the 6'3"-6'5" range although there are several exceptions on both ends of the spectrum, with Hayward being one of the tallest. He's only 18 so he might even grow another inch or two. Wouldn't that be something?!

But yes, I still say if he's going to be considered "ELITE," he's going to have to do so as primarily a PG, where he could truly have an advantage with his size and speed.

Is there such a thing as giving up to much for a potential superstar?

I would in a heartbeat. I still don't really know what to make of Exum. However when the Magic needed a PG more than any other position they passed on Exum. While the Magic aren't the standard for talent evaluation it's a little concerning that they had him in for workouts and passed on him.

This is correct. If he is going to be special, it will be as a PG.

They view Exum as a combo guard. They drafted one of those last year in Oladipo. So they went for pure point with Payton.

Utah has a pure point and good SG's. Combo guard was a perfect pick for them.

Isn't Burks seen as a combo guard as well? Either way Orlando don't really scream great decision makers although I did love Gordon and feel like he has the potential to be the best player from this draft. I think Exum see's himself as a true PG. Either way I thought the 3 spot was Utah's biggest area of need.

Burks is a shooting guard imo

No. The Jazz drafted Burks as a SG. He can play PG in a pinch, but he's definitely NOT a PG.

I thought Orlando's draft was well planned. They traded Afflalo and brought in Fournier, who has good range (38% on his 3's), so SG is set with Oladipo/Fournier. They have Tobias and Harkness at the forward spots; so definitely could use help there. And they knew they were going to release Jameer, so PG was a need. Obviously, they felt Gordon/Payton was better value than any other combination. And they might be right. Payton shot up the draft boards in workouts. Gordon also moved up. I think Philly schooled them a bit, though. They likely thought Payton would be there at #12. Had to give up a 2nd and a future 1st to trade up 2 spots.

Burks is seen as more of a situational role player. They tried the combo guard thing but he didn't really pick it up that much.
