Favors Looking Thin

Best case scenario, in my mind is that Favors shooting touch returns from mid range, and he adds a corner three as well.

In my wildest dreams we have three all star caliber players in Rubio, Gobert and Favors this year, and a promising supporting cast in Mitchell and Exum, solid vets the Joes, and this team barely misses Hayward in finishing 4th in the west. That would be awesome.

Last year was his best midrange shooting year, so idk about it returning. It has gotten slightly better every year.

Jazz are finishing 2nd in the West.
Gobert gets DPOY, Mitchell gets ROY; Snyder gets COY and Lindsey gets GM award.

I still feel like they would give Coach of the Year to some Eastern Conference Coach who barely squeaks into the playoffs over Snyder, even if the rest of
this happened.

Nah, if the Jazz make the playoffs he will get it, almost a near guarantee IMO. They always give it to the coach whose team over-achieved relative to national opinion.

Yep, if we're the 8th seed, it's a lock.

What a dumb ****ing statement.

Recent winners
16-17 = D'Antoni 3 seed
15-16 = Kerr 1 seed
14-15 = Budenholzer 1 seed
13-14 = Pops 1 seed
12-13 = Karl 3 seed
11-12 = Pops 1 seed
10-11 = Thibs 1 seed

Yep. The 8th seed coach is all but a lock. ****ing dumb as a stump.

Quin gets COTY if we make the playoffs?

I literally cannot remember someone being awarded COY for scrapping into the playoffs. Especially a team that is expected to be in the mix for a PO spot anyways. Quin needs 50+ wins to have a shot.

Best case scenario for me is that he comes into camp in shape, stays in shape, and runs the floor. For all of his athletic gifts, Favors has never run the floor. It's always bothered me. Take a page out of Malone's playbook and get a few easy baskets by playing harder than your opponent.

If Favors starts shooting more (he's already fallen in love with the jumper), you're just taking him away from the strengths. If you absolutely have to get spacing from the four, get someone who can already do that instead of trying develop a bad shooter into a good one. When Favors is out there, he needs to bully people. Not stand around and wait for open jumpers that he's been bad at his entire career.

Every year is different. There arent any new incoming coaches like D'Antoni this year. The Jazz are the only team in the West who lost their, at least perceived to be, best player while many other teams added All-Stars. If the Jazz make the playoffs, he is winning it. It's a guarantee.

Oh I didn't realize that. For some reason I thought it had fallen off last year.

Thinking about it now it was his shots around the rim that had fallen off.

Doc Rivers won it for just getting a Magic team to 41-41 and missing the playoffs.

I think the voters would have likely given the award to Spoelstra this year if the Heat would have "scrapped into the playoffs".

And Scott Brooks won it in 2010 for getting the 8th seed.

Ifs are cute but Spoelestra didn't win it, the Thunder had 50 wins and weren't your typical 8th seed, and Rivers won it because he took a bunch of paraplegics and nearly made the playoffs. With Gobert, Rubio, Favors and company, I'd hardly say we're wheelchair bound.

Stump.

So that's twice in what, the last 25 years? The OKC team won 50 games by the way.

I just have a hard time seeing a Jazz playoff birth clinch a COY for Quin when close to half of the media will predict one anyways.

You realize getting 8th seed in the West might mean 50 wins this year
