On Tuesday the FBI announced it was charging 10 people with fraud and corruption charges surrounding NCAA basketball. Two of those charged were Adidas employees. Reports also indicated the FBI was investigating several NCAA programs including Louisville.

placed on administrative leave, or fired depending on where you read.

Today it is rumoured the FBI is going after Nike too

So far, the investigation and charges has only involved the coaches, teams, shoe companies, but has left out the players. No one knows if the players and their families will remain below the FBI radar.

The Jazz's much anticipated rookie, Donovan Mitchel played for Louisville and is an Adidas athlete.

I don't want to imply Mitchel did anything wrong, there has been nothing to indicate he is anything but squeaky clean. But as the FBI investigation grows, I wonder how many of the Jazz players might get caught up in the drama, and if it will become a distraction.

Alec Burks' agent is caught up in this. The FBI confiscated his computer.

ASM Sports was raided by the FBI on Tuesday, reportedly in connection to the NCAA scandal.
The FBI took the computer of Andy Miller, amongst other items.

In a nutshell, what exactly are the fraud charges?

'Is Mitchell guilty?'

Guilty of what? Being paid at all for bringing immense value to a program that's part of a systematic apparatus of exploitation?

The NCAA is organized crime. Players don't even get stipends, yet upon their backs is a multi-billion dollar enterprise.

I hope Mitchell and/or his family got paid a lot of money.

I agree.

No, they won't. Find me any case where a player has been arrested for accepting money.

Yeah DM may have his name brought up but the kids are kind of victims here. Being pushed to a company or agent because of bribes and kickbacks. Any money they took is not a crime. I don't think DM would have taken cash as I don't think there is a ton of financial pressure there. Even if he did who cares... the kids should get paid.

The worst they are going to do to players is give them the Reggie Bush treatment and/or kill the program. No one is getting arrested on the player side.

I agree that the NCAA is corrupt, and that the players should get paid. I also agree that the players are exploited by this process. But corrupt agreements are still corrupt agreements.

They can always go overseas for a year and play for money, like Mudiay. The players know the rules, no excuses for them either.

Yeah, **** them for wanting to eat/have clothes/do anything else that we have to or like to do with our money while their employers make many millions annually off of their work (all the while making students pay to finance this entire racket, and being a significant expenditure in causing tuition to continue to rise exponentially [and increasingly freezing out the impoverished from sensible access to higher education]).

And the problem with the NCAA isn't that it's corrupt, it's that it's - in effect - evil. It's working exactly how it was designed to.

And marijuana should be a schedule one drug where users are charged with felonies for possession becuz the rulez guis regardless of how out of wack that is with the science or that it's openly known that the war on drugs was a tool of Nixon to oppress the political power of those who opposed him (hippies and blacks).

But the rulez.

Any rule that exploits and oppresses people and is meant to should be spit on, worked around, and dismantled.

I wish they would go after insurance companies.
That is a racket that would make the mob jealous.
