Game Thread Feb 04, 2022 07:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Nets

Added to Calendar: 02-04-22

Fun game. Gotta say I think the ingles injury is a blessing for the jazz. I also haven't missed Jordan Clarkson being on the floor. Loved watching Forest, Butler, and Pashcall.

Udoka looked ok. 11 rebounds and 10 points. Bogey with 11 rebounds was nice as well. (I know the nets were small but still)
I dont know what an average assist total for a jazz team per game is but it seemed like the ball moved very well tonight. 33 assists. Again I dont know if that is more than usual but it felt like we were moving the ball great.

I googled the assist thing. We are averaging 22 assists per game. 28th in the league. 33 is nice jump.

Great win for the Jazz and all, and it's really nice to see a beginning to end *** kicking, but boy I have a hard time remembering a more pathetic effort by an opponent than whatever the hell the Nets put up today

true. Nash is in hot seat, harden - Simmons trade rumor circulating , kyrie drama, KD injury. good win but FO cannot be so high on this one. we still need to upgrade our lineup, tweak our rotation , play our reserves. we just beat a troubled team

This may be a hot take, and I’m obviously not a coach, but I think giving the young players playing time has really helped them improve a lot. Do you think Quin has noticed that too?
The funny thing to me was that one of the assistant coaches said almost the same thing at halftime. Makes me wonder if there isn’t a mutiny afoot.

What about how the young players are elevating the effort by the veterans? I hadn’t seen our vets play defense, hustle, and pass the ball around like that in a long long time. Forrest especially, he’s the energizer bunny. That one sequence where Brooklyn was on a fast break, Forrest came from behind and tapped the ball out, which generated a Jazz fast break and 3 pt shot was amazing. Usually we’d just lazily foul Brooklyn and set up our defense.

I swear we’ve seen more fast break Jazz pts in the last 2 games than the entire season combined

Why is our ball movement so good right now? It can’t all be Clarkson, right? I saw Spida giving up good shots and dumping it down inside to Royce and Doka for great looks. I saw guys like Bogey cutting inside and posting up instead of just hanging by the 3 pt line waiting to launch. Last game saw so many dribble drives by Conley, Butler, and Forrest. The style of play tbh, has been quite different over the last few games. Taking advantage of matchups, valuing possessions, and getting good looks.

It’s been pretty basketball. So what gives?

It’s pretty funny to see the Nets implode like this. I mean, what did they expect? They brought together a ton of primadonas who want the ball. How did they expect this to turn out? Same could be said about the Lakers. What did they expect putting westbrook and Lebron on the same roster?

Lol.

But seriously, I get that denver and Brooklyn were missing pieces (as were we) but the effort, defense, and ball movement have been completely different. How many times did we get easy looks off cuts, inbounds passes, and dribble drives? Forrest alone had 3 layups and 2 extra possessions due to rebounding/hustling on fast breaks.

Dok definitely looked like he can be a player in this league, and Donovan was outstanding (while he did have a number of poorly defended pick-n-rolls from what I could see, he also did well a lot, and his offense was great). Trent Forrest and Jared Butler both look great all of a sudden.
