Because Ronaldo does not defend. He likes to play just on the attack.

My eyes immediately go to the top you've got Uruguay-Portugal and France-Argentina. Soccer fans around the world will beg for a Ronaldo-Messi showdown but it could very well be Uruguay-France they way things have looked. Brazil has to feel good about this draw also England has to be feeling like they could make some noise.

What if trying to score means they're down 0-2 and get kicked out? It's just smart. Gotta do whatever it takes to move on to the next round.
