Fire ty

I think Ty, at least thus far, has the same basic problem players have: leadership. He hasn't appointed any team captains because he says that will play itself out over the course of the season (read that in more than one article). That doesn't seem right to me. Ty is the coach. Ty should be able to observe the guys from the games they played last season and from camp and decide who the best leader(s) is or are. Nobody will assume the leadership role until Ty decides who the captains are. When the team captain gets traded (Deron), that role has got to fall to someone else. Don't leave the team in a leadership limbo. They lack focus on the floor, like they need someone actually IN the game telling them what to do. You are the coach Ty. Pick a captain and tell him "you are going to lead this team" so they actually have a leader on the floor.

That said, I don't know how I could pick a leader from the bunch we have now. It would normally sort of fall naturally to the point guard, or always has, but I just don't see Devin Harris taking that role. Do you guys? Maybe we need to get to know him better?? I don't know who the team captain should be, but then again, I'm not the coach...Ty is.

Here's my fear on Corbin:

When Corbin was an AC under Sloan, Corbin was probably the guy on the coaching staff that the players would vent to when Jerry and Phil where being crusty old white guys and riding them too hard. Corbin would listen to them gripe, pat them on the butt and tell them to hang in there. Corbin liked his players and the players liked Corbin. When Jerry and Phil left, the guys who we're already here told the new guys "Ty's a cool guy".

Now Corbin is "the man" - he has to be the hard ***, he has to be the disciplianarian when players don't play hard and the guy who makes the tough decisions like who starts, who doesn't and who gets the minutes. This is not in his nature or his skill set and deep, deep down, the players don't really respect Corbin in relation to the position that he is in. Therefore the players don't respond - they don't play hard for him and eventually the players don't believe in him and the result is performances like last night.

I hope I'm wrong but I'm probably right.

Excellent point. I agree. You can be a friend or a coach. Very difficult to be both.

Goodpoint - my brother and I were discussing who the floor leader or team captian is on this team. My thoughts:

Harris - does not seem like he wants to be a leader and he makes poor decisions. -Not good leadership material
Jefferson - See D Harris
Favors -Too young inexperienced.
Hayward - see Favors
Bell - I'm sure he thinks he is the leader of the team but he just sucks. I'm sure it would be difficult for a player to listen to someone who sux sooo bad.
Millsap - I think Sap would be a quiet leader, but I don't know if he has the personality to pull off being the vocal leader of the team.
Howard- Too new and potentially damaging to youngsters
Tinsley - straight up gangsta - probably not ideal
CJ "the Chucka" Miles- too big of a worthless chucker
The rest are tooo new or too young or just dont play enough.

Hey Verlin, whenever I give you a negative rep, do you seriously go to my latest post and give me a neg rep, simply because I gave you one?

Are you that childish?

My very first rep of any kind was negative rep from Chitown. Such a warm welcome. I feel at home.

Devin Harris is a natural born leader. He was team captain in New Jersey and Dallas.
But he can't lead when he isn't given the keys to the car.
TyCo needs to quit trying to fit a square peg into a round hole and uncage Harris.
The Jazz 'system' is outdated and doesn't mesh with their personnel.

LOL. What did I say?? Please copy and paste it in here. I apologize for whatever it was. I'm normally a nice guy. Ty the Turd and Raja Bell have just gotten the worst of me lately.

Flawed logic and you've displayed the reading comprehension of an eight year old.

It made me lol

The difference is I am still willing to give him a shot. Who knows but that there might have been a method to his madness. Granted the madness was pretty insane, but still, it was one game. He may have been feeling out Howard to see what he had left in the tank, which would explain his extra PT, and he spread minutes around ok among the rest, albeit haphazardly. He possibly was using the blown game to see them in a kind of preseason or even training camp mode so he can make some informed decisions down the road.

Now, if he strings together 10 games like this, well then it's time to Occupy Radium Stadium for sure.

Looks like no signs of adjusting after 2 games in. But you're definitely onto something. A new online movement I've been at the steering wheel of....OccuTY Corbin
