Following 2016 potential draftees

Maker is probably who I would take at this point. This team clearly needs an alpha (see the Hayward discussions), so let's swing for the damn fences. I don't care that we have a crowded front court--just draft BPA. And even if Maker's ceiling isn't as high as people originally thought, I still see All-Star potential. Plus he seems more competitive and intelligent to me than, say, Skal.

Luwawu is high my list, as well, but I don't see the same level of raw talent in him like I do with Thon.

I think Maker is going to be a defensive oriented 5. He'll add strength and develop his offense slowly. I think his talent level is in the neighborhood of Derrick Favors, though he has legit length for the 5. I don't care much about his handle, as I don't think he'll use it much as a pro. His hands don't look great and his lateral mobility and coordination are probably adequate and no better. I think the Jazz should take the best 2-way shooting wing they can get.

Thon was ruled eligible. Awesome.

I want him. Another defensive minded guy but one who is passionate and fiery. A frontline of Favors-Gobert-Lyles-Withey-Maker is pretty damn sick and diverse, especially if Maker has range like it seems he might.

I think Conley or Bazemore should then be targets this offseason. I'd be happy with either.

With Thon Maker's small hands, poor frame, average athleticism and feel for the game, ceiling seems to be that of a nice role player at best

I REALLY hope somebody in the top 10 falls in love with Thon and bumps someone else to us... I see a lot of Gorgui Dieng in Thon, but I don't know if that's what we need right now with the rise of Lyles AND Withey, in addition to Gobert and Favors.

Luwawu's my guy this year for the 12th pick (so far).

Dedric Lawson returns to Memphis.. interesting..

Pastners gone..

Charlie Moore decommitted.. I wonder whats going to happen there..

You did see Tubby Smith is the new coach correct? Pastner did not live up to the hype so dont think to many people are to disappointed he left. Good luck GA Tech. I hope all the players who have transferred the last couple of years will end with Smith.

For a player who has 'average athleticism', he sure makes some spectacular moves..

I mean I still see a lot of Gorgui Dieng in him... like A LOT .. I've got Dieng in my fantasy team all year this year and even the way they run the floor seems similar to me. Dieng has been pretty consistent in hitting his mid range jumpers this year, is a good FT shooter, and is slowly extending his shot to a 3pt range too... they are both good defenders with quick hands for steals and can block shots, but don't have a good feel for the game yet.

Dieng has good athleticism, but would you say he has GREAT athleticism? Probably not... The only thing that seems to be separating them in my estimation is Thon Maker seems to have a much better handle & dribble which bodes really well for him since he doesn't really have a back to the basket game.

you have the most head-scratching takes I've ever read.

Thon would be in the lottery by the time the draft comes around. He'll do well in the draft workouts, no doubt. Realistically, 12th should get us a very good player. I'm excited, this draft is deep this year.

Let me explain why i want the jazz to go big.

1st - favors back and gobert plays in a way that seems to get sprain ankles. Depth at the f/c

2nd - there is a lot of depth and talent at or around the 12th pick. Thete are some good bigs.

3rd - since a lot of scoring comes from the wings in the nba i think it would be best for the jazz to improve that through free agency.

Deyonta davis really intrigues me. He has a ton of talent and i respect the MU program.

I like the home run potential of both skal and maker.

I think with the right assets the jazz could even move up a little and draft poeltl.

Like i posted before there are a lot of potential bigs

Also a jackpot scenario could be Henry Ellenson falling to the pick. He's not a perfect match because he's just about exactly Trey Lyles size, maybe a half an inch taller. He's a better rebounder and shotblocker for sure and he's more used to playing 5, he'd be a seamless fit at PF next to Favors, Gobert or Withey too.

I believe he's got some Kevin Love to his game, his handle/faceup game is really something for a player his size too. He and Lyles with Burks off the bench could really attack the basket from the perimeter aggressively

Davis is interesting but I like Skal better, I'm waiting for measurements and workouts though to really decide. I haven't ruled Stephen Zimmerman out yet either.

Ellenson is interesting but if it was my team i would want some one to be able to have a back to the basket game. Davis is raw but his jump hook has a lot of promise. If he can develop a counter move he could be very deadly.

Yeah when I saw him I also thought "Kevin Love" ... but that could be because he's a good rebounder who can shoot 3's ... plus 1 other reason I don't want to mention publicly... LOL
