Following 2016 potential draftees

Skal's jumper and hook shot are beautiful. If only he had Maker's motor.

I really like Korkmaz. He's one of the youngest players in the draft and has already played proball oversees. Great size, can shoot it.

No interest in Korkmaz. Not athletic. 57% from the line. 39% from the field. Really? This is what we want? He shot 42% from three. So what? It was only on 1.4 attempts per game. Hell, the 8.8 minutes per game is so small, it's tough to guage him. I'd avoid him.

Skal's game is fueled by arrogance, which isn't the worst thing though, once he gets rolling he's gonna be tough to stop.. even during crunchtime.. Which is why I like the fit here in Utah tbh, he could exist in a vacuum scoring the ball 3-10 ft from the basket, and then ya hope the rest of his game falls in line...

NBAdarft comparing him to Channing Frye is terrible.
You have a comp for him? I'm not sure how to view his potential anymore. He has the tools to be a great two way player, but dude was a ***** for UK.

He definitely is athletic.

He's somewhere on the Lamarcus Aldridge-Chris Bosh spectrum.. He's more agile than either of them too..

His measurements will be key though.. Gotta wait on them.. Dr Jones said many months ago he's on a trajectory for 240lbs which could change things..

I just don;t think people here are giving him the proper benefit of the doubt, reminds me of Zach LaVine.. You'd almost think he's projected to have the same pitfalls as Kanter or something.

That UK team needed Skal to play like the biggest, most talented player on the floor. In Utah he'll never have that role, they just need him to shoot, play defense and rebound..
I saw Bosh like potential before the season started--do you still see him reaching that level? Does he have the drive? Dr. Jones repeatedly said he's as soft as can be.

years ago, when he was ranked outside of the top-10, and PKM was posting he's going to Memphis. I used to post here that I thought he was a 'Rich mans John Henson', I still think that's a pretty good comp and Henson might be his 'worst-case' type projection, which is still good enough to be a big $$ bench player..

I ask; How soft would he look standing next to Rudy Gobert or Derrick Favors ???? Has he spoken on that??

I suspect this is a damn good landing spot for him.. He'll probably work harder at his game with talented players in front of him, that he's trying to take minutes from.
So who would you pick for the Jazz? I realize things could change in the upcoming months, but is there a clear favorite of yours right now?

Luwawu is probably my preference, followed by Skal.

Due to my nieve assumption that this team was playoff bound (although I probably should've reassessed that belief after the Exum injury), I have paid little attention to this year's draft class. Assuming we stay at #12 & don't make any major FA or trade additions, who would be the ideal selection(s)? And if we were to move up, who would be the ideal target(s)?

Have you ever actually seen him play? He is actually quite athletic great size for a 2 His 3pt shooting is actually more like 47%. You apparently dont realize that they play in multiple leagues in Europe. You are only looking at his Euroleague stats not his Turkish league stats. As was stated he is about the youngest guy who is going to be in the draft. Not saying I am dead set on wanting him but clearly he is a guy you have to look at seriously. As Ford notes in his mock draft (which has us taking him) we do not really need our pick to contribute next season. We have plenty of young guys already and of course will be able to pick up some free agents.

Murray lacks the handle or quickness of CJ or Arenas. He is a spot up shooter at the nba level... Trust me I wouldn't expect you to understand this since all you see is video of him getting his shot off. Against nba 2 guards he will struggle. His potential is a superb nba 6th man.. That is his ceiling. I watch games, not just highlight films and that is what I see.

Jamal Murray would be the ideal trade up target, no one in this draft could add real firepower to the offense next season quite like Murray..

He's a CJ McCollum/Gilbert Arenas style combo guard, who's also been compared to Brandon Roy, and would fit seamlessly next to Exum at SG and Hood/Burks at PG. He's dangerous with and without the ball. Quick release shooter.

Shot a blistering 41% from 3 on 7.7 attempts as a Freshman, and closed out the season with #'s even stronger then that.

He's also the closest player you'll find to Steph Curry in this draft..

I agree that Murray would be ideal for the Jazz. I would loosely compare him to Damian Lillard in terms of talent level.

Murray's handle and ability to change pace is much better than Buddy's.

Totally. I think Buddy Hield is in the Eric Gordon/Garry Harris/Evan Fournier ilk as primarily a feet-set, face-up shooter. Wes Matthews is another in that category. Hield will be really good at it though.

Also a jackpot scenario could be Henry Ellenson falling to the pick. He's not a perfect match because he's just about exactly Trey Lyles size, maybe a half an inch taller. He's a better rebounder and shotblocker for sure and he's more used to playing 5, he'd be a seamless fit at PF next to Favors, Gobert or Withey too.

I believe he's got some Kevin Love to his game, his handle/faceup game is really something for a player his size too. He and Lyles with Burks off the bench could really attack the basket from the perimeter aggressively

Davis is interesting but I like Skal better, I'm waiting for measurements and workouts though to really decide. I haven't ruled Stephen Zimmerman out yet either.

Do you think he could play minutes at the 5--as kind of a Raef LaFrentz stretch-5? He looks like he can add some weight, and his rebound numbers look pretty solid.

Denver Nuggets with 3 top 20 picks
Within 2 years they will have the better team then the Jazz, Just like I called this pre season with the Blazers passing the Jazz.. Look the Jazz need a homerun draft pick because they are in the danger Zone.
Portland is better
Denver is on its way.
Minny is on its way with Anthony Towns as Batman and Wiggins as Robin
REal danger zone for the Jazz. A Team full of role players is not going get it done. With the right pick or trade the Jazz could be in this convo for top dog of conference for years to come. This conference is going be the best in nba from top to bottom within a couple years. Nice pieces the Jazz have, Problem is they don't have that center piece( not literally a center but the go to guy) If I was the Jazz id be open to trading anyone on the roster. I wouldn't go and break down the whole thing and trade everyone but I would listen to trades about anyone on that team. Need a go to guy, A face of the franchise. Hayward has had his shot and he has shown what you get with him leading. Lottery bound year after year. He was the 3rd or 4th option in college on his college team and needs to be the same in the NBA.
Now pair him up with Paul George and WOW is that a nice tandem on the wing..Pacers wouldn't want Rudy but I would give up Favors to get him. On Favors I find it so funny people here talk about his potential and how he can still develop but then rip a kid like Denzel Valentine because he is a 22 year old senior. So a 24 year old can stil ldevelop but not a 22 year old.lol
I am goin g leave Exum out of this since he is a wildcard, an unknown at this point
PG
Hayward
George
PF? Maybe Lyles(called him Lamar Odom like)
Rudy Gobert

Now lets say Exum does come thru
Exum
Hayward
George
Lyles
Rudy

Nice lineup that has the potential to be a nightmare on the defensive end and has a go to guy scorer in George and a solid second option in Hayward

ANOTHER thing about George is since he is a west coast kid I could see him wanting to play in Utah.. Not going get many kids from the Midwest or east coast who would want to stay in SLC but a west coast kid you would have better chance.IMO

Someone tell me that starting lineup I rolled out does not have some serious potential?
