The ****ty MSU's
0-3... He doesn;t look all that great so far..
particularly his PG skills, he throws careless 1 handed passes. He's obviously several clicks below Monta Ellis on the athleticism scale, If your thinking he looks like that type of athlete, prepare to be underwhelmed.. He does appear to be mistake prone like a young Monta... (I was of the opinion that Monta was a surefire first round pick back in the day FWIW)
I've seen every minute in all 3 games he's played, no one in their right mind could say he looks like a lottery pick from those games.. he started off
2-8 from the FT line!!! Still kinda shocked at how bad some of the decisions he's made in half-court offense were, breaking cardinal rules of playing PG, and he's had his dribble stolen right out of his hands too.. He seems rushed..
His shooting isn't of any concern, his shot selection could use some help. I'd certainly still take him on the Jazz, he'd be a great floor-spacer playing strictly SG, next to Exum, Burks, Hood and Hayward - When his jumper is on, it's really something to see, it's noticeably great, his ball really splashes thru the net, he gets a TON of rotation on his shot.. Bill Raferty would certainly say he 'tickles the twine'
Jamal Murray might actually be a better shooter though, which is remarkable because Newman's one of the best freshman marksman in years. Take a look at this shot..

Mississippi states offense looks simple and predictable, He and Brandon Ingram shoulda went to UK, dunno why you'd choose to put a whole college on your back like Newman did, when your trying to showcase your skills best as possible, it doesn't make sense(from a business standpoint)..
Its basically everyone stand around and wait for Newman to get open for3, or everyone stand around and dump Gavin Ware the ball in the post. Sword can get to the rack but he seems gets phased out of the gameplan for long stretches.
Apparently he didn't practice for a few weeks. My toes are kinda messed up from playing ball, and It did look like his toe was bothering him early in that MASSACRE vs Miami, He jumped with the ball out of bounds to try and make a pass, that wasn't there, so he threw the ball to the defense, landed funny and glanced at his toe.
At this point I'd have to conceed that Korkmaz might be the safest option at SG in the lottery(after Murray and Brown ofc), Svi isn't getting enough minutes to claim that spot. Timothe Luwawu-Cabbarot shouldn't be discounted though, he's on a new team, in a higher level of competition and he looks like the clear-cut best player on Mega Leks thru 10 games, he can do it all too, plus he's quick and built like a prototype NBA wing... He's lighting the Adriatic league up.. I said a while back he was definite top-20, I think I had him near the top-20 in last years draft tbh, he's certainly got the talent to go higher..
Also **** Bill Self.. Dude loses that MSU game by not playing Greene. Greene's on the bench complaining while their melting down, obviously. Now Self suspends him for 6 games for arguing about PT.. Well done - talk about compounding your issues for no ****ing reason.. As I said last year, Greene should've declared, I fully believe someone would've taken him in the 2nd round, and his ceiling isn't any higher this year with these restricted minutes, and now what some might classify as character issues.
