I get so frustrated watching Malik Pope. Dude should be much better than he is.
Hate to say I told ya so... but..
Few things
-Oregon's Chris Boucher with 17-9-9blks in 28 minutes.. He reminds me a bit of a bigger version of John Wallace the 18th pick in '96. I'd certainly look at a player like him in the 2nd over Kyle Wiltjer... Boucher is 4/12 from 3 thru 5 games.
-UNLV's Patrick McCaw's stats are pretty nifty right now. 19.2 ppg, 3.7boards, 4 asts, 3 stls, and 43%from 3 on 6.2 attempts... Obviously if he keeps playing like that, someone will draft him in the first round.
-Bill Walton is too senile to do the games, he's actually an embarrassment.. Even for ESPN's standards. Often times he's got a point but he feels the need to speak down to the play-by-play guy to make it. Was good to see Jon Sciambi put him on blast a few times. I'll still listen to Walton though, he's not yet achieved Reggie "Giannis is a tall drink of water" Miller, instant mute status.
- With wing being one of the bigger question marks in this draft, if Wayne Selden continues to shoot 3's at this prolific rate. He's going to make himself some lost monies back, for sure. At least will become a priority 2nd rounder.
- Devonte Graham's(KU) at 41% from 3 on 4.4 attempts per, his AST/TO ratio is 4½:1 and he's at 2 steals per game. Certainly on 2nd round radars. I'd take him on the Jazz in that range for sure. He's 6'2", long armed, and a damn good athlete.
- Looks lke Sviatoslav will need to prove himself in limited minutes, but very heavy shot attempts per in those minutes. Not the best situation tbh.
- Domantas Sabonis(Gonzaga) at 83% early on from the FT line. If he can shoot like that, IMO he'll certainly end up in the first round. Shot in the mid-60's as a freshman. He's also shooting nearly 80% from the field.
- DX has NY's own, Thomas Bryant(Indiana) overrated. He should've been able to make more of an impact(especially on the boards) vs UNLV. Dwayne Morgan out rebounded him, it's no secret that Zimmermans been sick.
- Eric Davis(Texas), 6'3" combo(scoring)guard who's one of my favorite 4-star players in this incoming class, started out the Texas A&M-Texas matchup by drilling 4 early 3 pointers, He finished with only 19, tied for a game high. Still a great showing, his best thus far. Worth keeping an eye on, Davis can shoot, and get red-hot doing so.
- Danuel House is very draftable in the 2nd round, some team will surely take a flier.. 6'7" Senior SF with a good 3pt shooting stroke, 39% on 7.2 attempts so far. He's also a factor on the boards and can pass some.
- It's early, looks like Maryland PG Melo Trimble won't be shooting 41% from 3 again this year though..
- Daniel Hamilton, aomehow is flying under the radar, his periphrial stats have gotta far exceed what anyone could've expected. At this point he's gotta at least be a priority 2nd round pick.. Here's his stats thru 4 games 10.5ppg, 8.5rpg, 7apg.. He's a legit 6'7" too. Some team will bite.
- Decent game for Brandon Ingram, his 2nd best as a dookie. Matt Jones is still shooting near 50% from 3 this year, he's been one of my favorite sleepers, and gets overlooked on Duke's roster. I'd entertain using one of the 2nd round picks on him. He's a marksman and a legit 6'4".. It's early but Luke Kennard has started his dookie career 4/23 from 3 or 18%..
- Michael Gbinije is an interesting old *** player, he might be able to sneak into the 2nd round at 24! 6'6" he's got some defensive potential, Cuse uses him at PG at times. He's also 14/27 from 3 to start the year, which obviously will make or break his chances. This Syracuse team can shoot!
- Cuse's best Freshman Tyler Lydon totally looks like an NBA player, his best game yet. 18/8/2/2/6blks 2/4 from 3 in 26 stat-stuffing minutes off the bench.
- Wake's Sr. Devin Thomas with another great showing in an upset victory 21/9/1/2/1, 9/11 from the FT line too. he's more ofa 70% type.
You like to bag on Cy for the amount of posts he has, but I have to wonder how close in word count you two are.
- Keep an eye on UW's freshman Marquese Chriss. He's 6'8 without shoes and has a 7' wingspan and does a bit of everything, including most importantly 3pt and rim-protection potential. He's versatile, and was outside of the top-50 recruits. good athlete worth keeping an eye on.
- Syracuse's Tyler Lydon looks super legit. Another do it all stretch 4 type, with defensive capabilities like Chriss. He seems to have 1st round upside. DX had him rated highly, when the HS services had him outside of the top-50. Appears to be a great find. He's long armed, can really shoot, appears to be bouncy with good anticipation. Alot to like about Lydon.
-Duncan Robinson on Michigan is still shooting over 50% from 3. Gimme him over Wiltjer easy.
- Another triple-double for Denzel Valentine. His story is an interesting one for a draftwatcher such as myself, I can't wait to see where this leads. He's 2nd in the NCAA's in assists per game thus far..
-There's a few 2/3 hybrids, some freshman, that are contributing immediately, and some of them are certainly on the draft Radar; Like Syracuses' Malachi Richardson and Malik Beasley at FSU who's averaging 20ppg on 58% from 3(5 attempts per game) to start.
- St. Johns freshman Yankuba Sima has been surprisingly ready to play. He's actually top-5 in blocks per game right now. I've watched almost every St. Johns game, and he's got a knack for being at the right place in the right time.
-6'10 Freshman Raymond Spaulding of Louisville is still shooting 78% from the field. Should be worth keeping an eye on. He really does appear to be a better version of former UL 1st round pick, Earl Clark.
- Ben Simmons is actually leading the NCAA's in rebounding right now with 14.4 per.
- Isaac Haas at 76% from the field and 72% from the FT line the latter would be a marked improvement from last seasons 55%.
- D.J. Hogg for A&M looks like a serious player. I think A&M should get him more shots.. He's got 1st round written all over him, and is still somehow under the radar.
- Absolutely awful showing from Sabonis, worst game I've seen him play.
- Allonzo Trier with the least minutes played of anyone on Arizona in an overtime, nail-biter vs the Santa Clara Bronco's..
- Really poor performance from Jaylen Brown in a loss to SDSU. Absolute no-show from Jabari Bird. Rabb, of course, was unstoppable. Too many turnovers and not enough steals from Tyrone Wallace for it to be anything more than a 'meh'showing.
- Malik Pope is shooting 27% from the field and 20% from 3. He'd have obviously been better off declaring for the 2015 draft. Back when pundits were sure he was going to use his extra year in college to improve..
- Monmouth has already beaten UCLA and now #17 Notre Dame..
- Daniel Hamilton posts another crazy stat line, 18,12,7. I think I'd take him over Denzel Valentine tbh.
- Wichita St. had no business being ranked where they were pre-season, what a joke, they have 0 chance without VanVleet.. Chimezie Metu with another 2 blocks in limited minutes for USC in victory.
- Jalen Brunson with his high scoring game so far, for Villanova. 18 pts on 14 attempts. He's shooting 85% from the FT line so far.
- my boy Eric Davis led Texas in scoring again!
