For me I like Ben Bentil of Providence in the 2nd rd. He seems like Jazz/Spurs type of player right off the bat.

Can anyone explain how international players enter the draft and when they are considered an early entrant, vs when they are automatically eligible?
I am specifically wondering about a couple of prospects that pulled out of last years draft late...George Lucas (aka Luca De Paulo) and Timothe Luwawu. Are they automatically entered this year, or will they be able to pull out again?

Whats a Jazz/Spur type player?
A high level high character guy I would guess. Because the Spurs have won rings and been contenders a long time. Jazz do not make the playoff.
In order to be early entrant they have to declare for the draft before (this year) April 24th 11:59pm. They become automatically eligible if they will be 22 in the year of the draft OR if they have signed a professional contract outside of the NBA but in the United states(I would guess that would mean D-League?).
George Lucas(19) and Luwawu(21) are not automatically eligible. They had to declare for the draft in order to be available to be drafted.

It's not that uncommon. Paul George, Leonard and Thompson were all drafted about where we're picking. Butler was 30th, Gobert 27th... The list goes on.

Chances are, there will be a future all-star there, the number of players available makes it very likely. The chance that your team specifically will draft the future all-star at 12-13 is not very good.
On the superstar level - the chance of getting a super-star past the top 10 is not very good.
More picks do you no good, if you don't have roster spots and minutes to develop the players.
13 Allstars picked after 12th pick between 2006-2012 (7 drafts): Draymond Green, Kawhi Leonard, Jimmy Butler, Isiah Thomas, Jrue Holiday, Jeff Teague, Roy Hibbert, DeAndre Jordan, Goran Dragic, Marc Gasol, Rajan Rondo, Kyle Lowry, Paul Milsap.
So the expected case is ~2 players of this caliber player on the board at 12. The odds that we pick the right player are probably <10%, just given the huge uncertainty in predicting the future.

Thats fair. It would be sweet if we could get a selfless guy like Kawhi or a early Jimmy Buckets.
There is the D-League you can use for development. Of course if the player is under contract it still counts as a roster spot. So probably no more than two guys for this type of development. With all the young guys we have plus money for free agents i would not be surprised if the 12th pick is a guy more for the long term.

There seems to be 1 intangible that applies to most of those and that is work ethic. Second is motor. In my opinion those ate 2 of the most important characterstics.
Quite a few of those guys (Draymond, Kawhi, Teague, DJ, Dragic, Rondo) also have elite athleticism and/or length as well. Can't forget the measurables.
