Following 2016 potential draftees

I just can't follow you on Richardson, Spy.

He's old for a freshman (2 months older than Baldwin for example), and he still doesn't exhibit good decision making skills. Had a <1:1 A:TO ratio, which is pretty porous. If you take out the month of January, which is when he got hot, he shot 30% from 3 overall. Pretty poor Ortg and DRtg. Pretty poor FT rate compared to his usage %. Statistically, and physically he compares incredibly similar to James Young.

I think he's enjoying a ton of recency bias. If you switch his January month with his November month, nobody is talking about him. I just don't see it tbh. His biggest skill so far is his shooting, which has shown to be incredibly streaky. Doesn't get to the line well, doesn't pass well, doesn't rebound well (especially for his size), and just doesn't show a good feel for the game or even understanding of the game IMO. At least with Lyles you could tell he had a high bball IQ...I don't see that with Richardson.
Good post.

The stats certainly favor guys like Beasley and Baldwin over Richardson, both of whom I also really like.

My recent optimism toward Malachi is more an eye ball test (both on and off the court) than anything else.

I'll give a better response as to why I like him despite some of his abysmal %s when I've got more time.

Bad personality? What? What am I missing? From everything I've heard and seen of him he seems like a great kid.

FWIW, I recall hearing or reading something negative about him too. I don't recall the source but everytime I see his name I think "nope, not a Jazzman".

It could be kind of sad, I mean I don't recall the source or know if the source was valid, but it has impacted my opinion.

Anonymous executives said he interviewed poorly, citing arrogance and poor IQ on basketball questions.

Found it...

“‘He was the worst interview we had this week,’” ESPN’s Chad Ford reported that one NBA general manager told him. “‘By far, the worst interview. I know he hasn't hired an agent yet, but he was arrogant and didn't show a real feel for the game when we asked him basketball questions.’”

I don't know. It's kind of shocking, he seems personable and cool guy from the interviews I've seen of him. He looks confident, but I didn't see any arrogance. Just open any interview on youtube... I actually love how he carries himself in those. I wonder if it isn't possible for some GMs and FOs to throw smokescreens and try to drop his stock so they'd have a chance at drafting him.

With him I'm more worried about his on-the-field production and skill than off-the-field.

The kings are desperate for a pg but #8 is to high for ullis or baldwin next they need shooting and #8 is to high for Korkmaz. So i would call and offer them #12, burks and a future pick (maybe a couple seconds or even 1 late first) for #8.

Then draft poeltl. Draft polomboy in the second. Trade burks and picks for jj Redick. Get jared dudley in free agency. (would have to over spend)

Exum, mack, neto
Redick, hood
Hayward, dudley, ingles
Favors, lyles, polomboy
Gobert, poeltl, withey

I like it.

I usually dont believe in smoke-screens that much, but this seems like an obvious one. Like, he may have interviewed poorly, but to say the worst seems like you're going out of your way to get negative information out there.

Jazz would add shooting in redick and dudley and great low post scoring in poeltl.

Some development from hood and the wing rotation would be a little better but still solid defensively with dudley. They also get some solid vets.

Hayward should be much better with a dead eye shooter in redick on the perimeter.

Redick would also help favors by spreading the floor.

One of the things that hurt the jazz in the 4th quarter was the ability to score. They could sit gobert that doesnt help a lot offensively for poeltl who the jazz could throw the ball into.

I'm checking out Wade Baldwin and I'm seeing some similarities to a young Deron Williams. Baldwin is a bit bigger and more athletic, and a little less shifty with the ball. But he's got a similar powerful frame, plays at a similar pace and drives with a similar headiness and attitude. He's a nice player. Seems mentally really solid.

It looks like you're trading Burks twice. You could offer Burks/12 for McLemore/8/?? You might be able to pull a different, bigger deal involving Rudy Gay.

Back on Ellenson, he probably can play some stretch-5 depending on how his shooting develops and his post defense. If the Jazz really want to play 5-out with Hayward attacking off the dribble, Ellenson might be considered. He's uniquely fluid for a guy that size. Similar in some respects to Lyles. I might be a bit more excited about Ellenson than Bender, tbh, but I'm still not seeing the best fit with the Jazz.

Did you just trade Burks for poertl and then trade Burks again for reddick? Hoodini indeed.

Sorry it was suppose to be burke. For some reason my phones auto correct thinks burke should be burks

You'd have better luck trying to trade burks twice... Trey has almost no trade value

So another 24 hours have passed, and I still like Korkmaz for the Jazz. This would normally be the kind of dead-eye shooter you can have success drafting in the 10 - 12 range--e.g., JJ Redick, Klay Thompson, CJ McCullom, Devin Booker, etc. I think Korkmaz is going to be better than Evan Fournier who is going to get a fairly rich contract soon. A guy who can shoot and pass this well will always fit on virtually any team.

I watched Dwil lall thru college. No similarities in game other then the size. This is just asaNINE TO EVEN SAY.
