Following potential 2012 draftees

Rivers ceiling looks to me like if Steph Curry did his best Monta Ellis impersonation. Am I nuts?

Definitely not nuts. Your rationale is far more defendable than mine. Every few years I see something in a player that isn't obviously there .. and I'm wrong as often than I'm right. I've been on the record that my feeling that Rivers will wind up playing like a top5 in THIS draft is almost purely a feeling.

With their second lottery pick Jazz should take whichever guard is left: Marshall, Lillard, or Rivers.

they all have their positives and negatives so don't reach.

I know all you have debated whether Rivers can/will play PG at the next level...
What was the general sense on that issue?

PKM, do you think Jodie Meeks is a good comparison for D. Miller, except for the fact that Miller is bigger and a sf. Miller is a better defender, I'm speaking offensively of course?

Huge question mark. I think he can run an offense, but he's got scoring instincts more than passing instincts. That has to be considered. Can he do it, absolutely. Will he be willing? ...

Not even close. Meeks is a pure shooter. Not a great ball-handler, poor vision, sub-par defender, and much shorter. Miller is a do-everything SF and Meeks is a pure SG.

If we draft him, it better be to play sg. I want him nowhere near the pg position. As I'm writing this a thought came to me could we draft Rivers and trade him to Boston for Rondo? Would Boston be interested, because Doc is his dad? Anyway just a thought.

I KNOW Doc wants to coach him, but it's a political circus how that could come to be.

So, what is it about JLamb's game makes you think he'll be the best shooting guard in this draft?

I don't know if I can come up with a quantitative answer. I'm not really a stat guy. Especially college stats. I just see a guy who has great athleticism, he can shoot and drive. And he knows how to play winning basketball. I try to spot an Alpha dog. And Lamb to me screams Alpha dog. I mostly Judge players off the eyeball test . My opinion might change slighty on some players once I see their measurables too, but I doubt I will feel different about Lamb.

It's a crapshoot for guys like us because we can't actually get down on a court and evaluate a player. So its mostly a hunch. I have been pretty good about picking which players turn out good too. So I'm fairly confident I'll be right about him.

Rivers does have great body control and an elite handle. It makes me think he could do some of the things a young Manu Ginobli did, just by out-maneuvering people.

Lamb could be elite, but his body language and care-free style this year at UConn was a bit concerning.

Rivers and Lamb are both going to be studs in the NBA, and almost everyone here is not so high on them . You all are crazy and are going to be eating crow in a couple years.

Rivers will be better than both Lillard and Marshall

Lamb will be the best shooting guard in this draft. And I believe he will be an Allstar at some point too.
(I'm predicting Rivers will play point, if not I say Lamb will be better than Rivers.)

If the Jazz can land either one then I will be extremely happy.

You have not seen Mr. Beal. That is the best SG in this class bar none.

Austin Rivers = Jamal Crawford.

Is this bad or good in your opinion? I personally see him being nothing like Crawford. I like him in a three gurard rotation. I would snag him and lillard, maybe Marshall, and call it a draft. Burks, Lillard and Rivers would be an awesome rotation.

Lamb does not have elite athleticism, though maybe slightly above average. He shot an unimpressive 33% from behind the arc, though did shoot very well inside the arc. He ranks near last of SG's in assists per possession (18th of the top 21). He was a winner when Kemba was on the team. This year, he and Andre Drummond nearly missed the NCAA tourney (should have) and got ousted early by Royce White and Iowa State. I'm not big on Jlamb.
