What's new

Following potential 2012 draftees

EARLY (early, early) in the season I'm most impressed with Q. Miller, Davis, and J. Lamb. Again, the opinions will change plenty, but these three, thus far, have been better than I expected this early.

I totally agree with the Lamb and Davis thing. I did not have a chance to watch Q. Miller at all so I have no opinion on him as of yet.

I guess another UK player to start paying closer attention to is Doron Lamb. His shooting has been picked up where he left off last year (60% from 3). However, he is showing some high-level PG skill I didn't think he had. He's been sliding to the 1 when Teague gets a rest and he is putting up 16pts, 4.5rbs, 4.5asts, 1stl ... and a 9:1 A/TO. It's great to have a prolific shooter be able to slide over and deliver the accurate pass while valuing the bb.

Also, J'Covan Brown from Texas as a possible 2nd round pick watch? The guy can score like crazy despite being a 6'2 unathletic combo guard. He is a decent passer, could make a nice backup PG.

Still laughing at how pissy Jones was getting towards the end of the game when he was trying to show off for NBA scouts by taking Thomas Robinson one-on-one, but only succeeded in getting owned.

Jones was the best player on the court of the KU-UK game. He's also the best pro prospect. I understand the intrigue around Anthony Davis but until he shows any semblance of a post-up game I don't see how he'll fit in the League.

Disagree. The best player on the court was UK's defense leading to easy transition buckets, mainly from Davis. Davis doesn't need to really develop a post-up game to be effective in the NBA. He just has to develop a face-up game.

Between Teague's "Look at me I finally hit a shot and didn't turn it over" celebrations and Jones' "Look at how crazy I look right now, I'm playing so hard and tough" I was just turned off by both of those guys.

I have to agree with you on both those points. I have never been a fan of any player that does that kind of thing.

I'm usually pretty numb to it, doesn't bother me at all most times. I just get bothered when you are sucking the whole game, then freak out when you finally don't mess up (Teague).

Yeah, that was pretty embarrassing. I still have a good deal of faith in Teague, though. I like his potential as a scorer, distributor, and defender; he could develop into a very complete PG, imo. Don't give up on him just yet.

THIS, I agree with. Most everything else not so much, but this, yeah.

I thought others might enjoy this tweet:

chadfordinsider NBA GMs walk away from Tues games at MSG raving about Anthony Davis, Michael Kidd-Gilchrist & Thomas Robinson. Austin Rivers? Not so much.

Question: Does anyone have a idea on what would happen with the draft if we have no season? The league would still hold a draft I'd assume, there will be players that still want out of NCAA. So I think you toss the lotto teams back in the bucket and repull it and see what happens. The Jazz would get another one if not two high draft picks. Not sure how that would all workout legally however. Thoughts?

Dude's got a reason he gets those putbacks, oops, and 6 blocks per game.

I honestly think he can play center one day in the NBA. He has a frame that could probably get him to 260 and if my eyes don't deceive me a wingspan around 7'5". A Favors/Davis front court would be straight up nasty. When the NBA reconvenes Okur's contract will have expired and Al will have just one year left. KOC was in attendance....

Mississippi State is set to dominate Texas A&M tomorrow on ESPN 2 in the Garden, 6pm central time.

The defensive ability of a Davis/Favors front-court paring is downright tantalizing defensively.
