Following potential 2012 draftees

Need I remind everyone of ct's comments about enes kanter leading upto the the draft last year?

Nope, someone has it as their sig, right? He can queue this up for potential sig-ness, but like I've said before, I think MKG will be one of the top 3 guys out of this class in 10 years if he comes out.

And that will have some ramifications on the draft as well. So wouldn't Bazz play the 2 with MKG playing the 3 anyway? I'm confused as to what one has to do with the other. Help.

It's just the overall number of wings. We've signed 5-star SG Archie Goodwin and we may return 5-star DLamb .. 'Bazz is a 2/3 so he's okay with that roster, but there gets to be a logjam if both MKG and Lamb return. Just waiting to see what the available playing time will be.

This is my view of the draft and how it would apply to the jazz

Anthony Davis - would take him hands down. The find away to trade Jefferson and millsap when needed for other needs.

Andre Drummond - needs more seasoning but would be stupid not to come out now all he can do is hurt himself. Very Leary of him doesn't seem to have the heart. Stil a couple to a few years away.

Harrison Barnes - he is a shooter that we need but can he do more. I would draft him just not top 5.

MKG - I would draft him the try to add shooters. He could be all defense in the nba some day. He seems to have the drive to get better. If Marion can play in the league mkg will be better.

Thomas Robinson - reminds me of millsap with a better low post game. I would draft him but we would have to move millsap. Don't think he will be a super star but a solid player.

Bradley beal - have never been high on this kid but hard to gauge playing on that Florida team. If Hayward is going to play the 2 then pass on beal but if Hayward is going to be a 3 then he would be worth the pick.

Jared Sullinger - makes me very Leary he won't be able to over power players in the nba. He reminds me of Dejuan Blair with out the bad knees. He will have a place not on the jazz though.

Jeremy lamb - this is a love hate pick I use to love him now I hate him. Has the talent but I am not willing to wait. Right now more of a slasher vs a shooter but has good form.

Cody zeller - to be honest I know very little. I will assume a hard worker like his brother and we know how the jazz love their tall white guys. Right now I would pass but in the mid to late teens I would take him.

Perry jones - if he drops to the preteens then he would be a great pick. If he can get his head on straight he just might have one of the best talents in the draft I would take him just not top 5.

Tyler zeller - great back up center that will give you everything ever night. Not a position of need but as a second pick maybe only if we can ship out big a for a position of need. Like his hustle though.

Meyers Leonard - not sure what to think of him. Is he a Robert swift or Robin Lopez? Right now I say no.

Damian lillard - I am intrigued enough that I would take him with a second pick. Hard to go wrong with a guy that can improve like he has. Beside it is a position of need.

Quincy miller - he is my first choice to fill the sf role for the jazz. I don't think we have seen all that he can do. He just needs to add some muscle and will be a great pick up.

John Henson - see above if the jazz moved big a then he would be a good pick.

Great write up, X. I agree with about everything. Two comments;

1) Cody Zeller could be the 3rd best big man in this draft (though I think he'll stay another year). I would only take Davis and Drummond ahead of him. I like him better than Tyler Zeller, by a mile.

2) MKG - A thought I've had, but haven't yet shared, is that MKG can guard the opposing team's PG. That means we could take a guy that facilitates the offense but can't defend as well .. problem is that doesn't mean Marshall (i.e.) because MKG and Marshall on the perimeter would be problematic. If you've wached MKG play, you have seen him rip a rebound and go coast-to-coast, often taking on 3 defenders and weaving his way to the rim. Point is, having (for example) a backcourt of MKG and Rivers could be very effective (Rivers the slasher/shooter and MKG the lockdown defender/slasher/rebound-and-goer).

EDIT: misstyped 'can' .. should have been can't.

Any chance MKG could be a Corey Brewer 2.0 Very athletic defender that can only score via using athleticism

MKG seems to have a better feel around the rim, and better rebounding ability, so he should be able to be 3/4 (in small ball lineups) and be effective. Brewer was 2/3 that never had the power game that MKG is capable of.

i agree but MKG should be TOP 5, we will draft around 10-15 i guess,
our BIGEST need is PG, what do you think about Lillard, i saw Kendal Marshal last night , no comments right now i will not pick him with lottery pick (no matter this is one game) like MKabongo
SF position is only QMiller around 10-15,
C MLeonard, it look like KOC take best possible player and we will see.... hehe

I just don't know enough about Cody.

I didn't do one for rivers. Oh well next batch

I don't think MKG will go top 5. My guess would be between 7 and 9.
There is no PG worthy of a lottery pick, imo.
I'm not crazy about Leonard and I definitely wouldn't take him in the first 14.

Obviously A LOT of this has yet to fully pan itself out. I love this thread because draft talk is some of my favorite, but the tourney and combines/individual workouts will change what we think A LOT between now and draft time, IMO.

I wonder if lillard is worthy. I like what he has done and what he is doing. He might be the only pg worth a 13 - 14 pick

I'd say the fans and every GM would like to know the answer to that question. His numbers are undeniably impressive, to say the least .. but Weber State has a strength of schedule of 287. That is so bad that it is a legitimate cause for concern. I think he'll be very good, but wouldn't take him in the lottery.

I like Marshall you better neg rep me.

Nah, everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think Marshall is a heady kid with a high bball IQ and elite passing skills, I just think when you go to the next level he's going to need more than that with the level of athletes he'll be going against.

I pray Weber makes the tourney. A good to great game against a Kansas etc type team, even in a loss, will help answer a lot of questions. But again, workouts and combine numbers will help as well. A lot left to be determined.
