Following potential 2012 draftees

Is Taylor really quick enough to guard the elite guards in the league?

He is a SF. He is considered one of the better defenders in college (can't really confirm that, but that is his rep).

And he is pretty athletic.

I have seen him play several times but I question his lateral quickness. He seems to be smart defender who is very strong. I am fairly confident he could check most SF's fairly well. But the quicker SG's I think will burn him with the NBA's no hand checking rules.

Maybe I am completely wrong.

While Taylor's offensive game remains a work in progress, he is still an outstanding defender who should be able to contribute immediately in the NBA on that end of the floor. While his reported 6'6 wingspan is unimpressive to say the least, he has excellent lateral quickness to stay in front of all but the quickest point guards and the strength to guard four positions at the collegiate level. Furthermore, and as we have written before, his fundamentals are superb across the board, giving him the chance to be a real presence on this end of the floor at the next level.

Though he will be 23 years old on draft night, Taylor is one of the few players in this draft who should be ready to contribute immediately. At 6'7 with a solid 226-pound frame, a respectable perimeter jump shot, and lockdown defensive potential; Taylor has solidified his standing as a first round draft pick this season who could rise up draft boards in June if he strings together a solid NCAA Tournament run and strong individual workouts.

I really watched the Baylor team and I can see how Perry Jones and Miller struggle with that team. However, both guys are raw and I don't either are top 5 as of right now. The Acy guy on Baylor was a monster. I don't know if he is an NBA prospect but he certainly is a very good college player.

Quincy Miller needs to improve his lateral speed and his strength. PJIII would be really good on a running team. His teammates ignore him a lot when he posts up. His defense is ok. I didn't see anything that makes me believe he can play SF in the NBA. He is still raw and may just being too unselfish.

I watch Barnes tonight. I just am not that impressed with his game. He needs to improve his handle and learn how to set up his teammates. He is a real black hole when he gets the ball. 3-16 is bad enough but when you don't do other things it really makes the poor shooting worse. He is going to need a good PG to excel unless he learns how to create his own shot and break guys down. I just think Zeller is the best guy on their team. I would not draft Barnes in the top 3.

I don't think Barnes would play ahead of Hayward, given the way Hayward is now playing. Barnes just looks 1-dimensional to me.

No way Barnes would play ahead of Hayward. I still think he would make a good compliment to our team as a 3 man, but I'm not trading up to get him.

Still a couple games left, but I'm feeling MKG has cemented himself as the #2 pick.

I think he's proven that he's a better prospect than Barnes, but I'm not feeling he'll go #2. Not saying he shouldn't, but most scouts have been saying he'll go around #5, I believe. We'll see.

I think I hate Pierre Jackson. Watching Baylor drives me crazy because Jackson jacks up shots with abandon, seemingly oblivious to anyone else on his team. I'm exaggerating, but you get the idea. I hate playing with guys like that. Miller rarely touches the ball - nothing's run for him. He might get an occasional look in the post, or he can always hope for a rebound. I really don't know what to make of Miller but I feel like it's largely due to the way that team's run - or not run.
And yet, they're still in it and are really good so I'm the idiot. I can't see Coach Drew's brilliant master plan. It seems like it shouldn't work and yet it does.
Acy was a monster today.

Tomorrow should be a very exciting game to watch.

UK vs. Baylor to go to the F4.

Some quotes from the Baylor board;

"Kentucky ... is an NBA team .."

"Kentucky is terrifying."

"Holy balls Kentucky is absurd. Its nothing but block-block-3-from-half-court every possession. Indiana is playing their best ball right now, and UK is still taking them to the woodshed."

"Seriously, though, Kentucky has lottery talent at every position, and their players match up with NBA players by size. They really are an NBA team."

"What frightens me is that this is IU's absolute best they've played all tournament. And they are still losing."

"I am literally terrified watching this."

"This is the best basketball game I have seen in a long time . Both teams are outstanding . BU can't afford a 10 or a 5 or even a 3 minute stretch or UK will just destroy . "

"Yep, this. That is what worries me most. If we are on our game and everyone is hitting, we can ABSOLUTELY keep up. But if we start to lull, PJ3 disappears, Acy isn't finding space, Brady is cold, PJax is reckless and sloppy...we will lose pace and I dont think we have the firepower to overtake them to catch up and surpass. We will need to be flawless. Not saying it can't happen, but man...we are going to have our hands full."

"UK can really get to the rim. They are relentless."

"If you don't bring it forty minutes against KY, you will get embarrassed. They can run you out of the gym"

He did have 10 assists i believe....

**** me. I guess Miller just sucks, while Jackson and Acy and PJIII win games.

As I watched the game, I couldn't help but noticed that it seemed Miller's teammates just didn't want to pass him the ball. Not sure if it's because they see him as a ballhog, or he makes bad decisions, or just my imagination ..

EDIT: Incidentally, Miller wanted to play for UK. Calipari went and watched him twice. The 2nd time, Cal left the gym in the first half and when asked why he did, he said he wasn't interested in 'me first' players. That was 3 years ago, but I still find it interesting.
