Following potential 2012 draftees

I been snooping around on the net and it looks like scout.com had the top 4 H.S. recruits for 2011:

1. Anthony Davis
2. Quincy Miller
3. Austin Rivers
4. MKG

PKM, you been high on both QMiller and Rivers (and MKG and Davis). So based on HS these guys were all great. But Quincy's problem is that he just doesn't care to try to be his best? Yet you'd still take him? ...I really do think Darius has looked better, but I never saw them in HS. Maybe that puts me at an advantage over someone who's still mystified by the talent Q displayed against inferior competition.

Not bad projecting, really. Davis = check. QMiller had a desire concern (going back to soph. year). Rivers could still be what he's supposed to be (can't say he's disappointed, yet). MKG = no doubt.

Sometimes the right coach/team can bring out the best in a player. If a coach/team brings out the best in QMiller, watch out. DMiller will be a solid 8/9 guy on a pro tem for years, but his ceiling is much more limited (MUCH). QM may never do anything at all .. but let me say this .. if he were playing for UK/Cal, he'd be taken top5. Sure of it.

Well, obviously something's there for Q to be listed as a top 2 H.S. recruit. I thought the Jazz would have to draft him with their first lottery pick and just grab whatever PG was left for their second lottery pick. But now it looks like Q won't be projected in the lottery anyway. Whereas all of Lillard, Marshall, and Rivers could be.

Guess the Jazz could take their pick of the PGs with their first lottery pick and wait and grab Miller with their second one. But it doesn't matter if the Jazz make the playoffs. Only one lottery pick then (maybe).

Teague putting up good numbers in the tourney;

14.5 points, 3 rebounds, 5.25 assists (2.75 to's), 48% from the field, 78% from the line.

For the 2nd round watchers, tourney stats for DLamb and DMiller;

Lamb - 16.75pts (leads UK) on 60% from 3, 68% from the field, 72% from the line (though he's shooting 84% on the season).

Miller - 13pts (only 1.5 behind Davis), 3.25rbs, 2.25asts, Shooting 50% from 3, 58% from the field, 93% from the line. (efficient?)

Where do you rank him with the other pg's? Do you know if he is planning on going pro?

He's undecided. I'm not crazy about his bbIQ or his outside shot. He can handle the ball and get to the rim, but I don't see him as an elite PG, ever. I'd say;

1. Marshall
2. Lillard
3. Kabongo
4. Wroten/Teague

With only the first two being potential and meaningful starters.

Sorry, OT, but check out the scoring balance for the top 6 UK players in the tourney;

Lamb - 16.75
Davis - 14.5
Teague - 14.5
Jones - 13.5
MKG - 13.5
Miller - 13.0

Add that to the fact that UK is the #1 defensive team in the nation .. and wow.

Here are some interesting tweets that are coming out of Chicago this morning (McDonalds All-American game):

Veteran NBA scout: "You can already see on first glance from a physical standpoint that this group isn't as talented as years past."

Doesn't take long to figure out that Yogi Ferrell is going to make an immediate impact at Indiana w/his ball-handling skills & athleticism.

Shabazz Muhammaad doing nothing to dispel the notion that he's an off the charts talent. Super aggressive. Dunking on people left and right.

I know that this is early. This might be better suited for the "Following potential 2013 draftees" thread.

I just wanted to point this out because it confirms exactly what PKM has been telling us all year long.
