Following potential 2012 draftees

You know what ..? UK has all kinds of haters. Gotta pick the battles. Your post was funny, I laughed, I really did .. but I'm not sure how to spend the energy sometimes .. I should have acknowledged your post, though, because you're a fellow SEC fan and an apparent lover of cbb.

Sarcasm as a spin off of KrazySalmonTooth's post.

I don't know if Marshall is going to work out wherever he's drafted, but I think on a team with a breadth of good options as oppose to one or two other really good players. Especially since in the latter scenario that means that he might not be able to handle the ball as much.

I'd be happy with Lillard or Marshall, but all of a sudden, I just think Marshall could be the piece that makes everything work.

Well, him, or Deron Williams...

Marshall really might be the missing ingredient...seems like he would be able to take all our young pieces and make them 'click'

And Marshall + Burks + Hayward would create quite the ball movement. Would be fun to watch.

I would like Marshall because he seems like a 20 year old veteran. I could really see him coming in right away, starting, and being affective. His role on the team would be exactly the same as it was with UNC.

Damn .. I look for every opportunity to disagree with you, but you're right most of the time. Pisses me off, really.

a) effective :)

b) I know this is a poor comparison, but a lot of people said similar things about Kemba Walker before he went pro last summer (regarding coming in, being instantly effective due to being veteran-esque, and what not). I am also aware that they are very different players, I'm just saying that older college PGs don't necessarily equate to instant contribution

Totally agree. When I think of Marshall, I don't think of some young, immature, underdeveloped talent like I do with most of the other prospects. It's weird.

I said Kemba would be average .. as well as Knight (to be slightly better). I also said Wall would be top 3 PG within 2 years .. we're all guessing.

The difference between Kemba and Marshall is that Kemba's scoring game was obviously going to struggle against superior competition. Marshall isn't a great scorer and ought to be able to score in the same way in the pro game, plus his passing is really his main asset.

Lineups with Marshall, Hayward, and Burks would be great as long as Burks can become a 33%+ 3p shooter and Hayward can approach 40.

In all seriousness .. great post.

I think Burks will get around 34%, Hayward will be 37%, Marshall will be 30%. Not great, but they would stretch the floor well enough, imo.

Look at a ******* map, dude. Do I gotta be your effin dad, too?

I'm sorry I haven't heard of every small Mississippi village surrounding Starkville. That would probably be a no go as that would be around final exam week and I will be swamped.

I'm in and out the same day, basically, so I was probably over-extending anyway .. best of luck on the exams.

Anyways, I guess what I really meant is that Kemba and Marshall just aren't comparable players. Kemba relied on what turns out to be relatively mediocre athleticism (no hate, just stating the facts), whereas Marshall's value is all about his court vision.

Personally, I really go back and forth on Marshall and Lillard for the Jazz. Although Marshall is a tremendous passer, we have a lot of guys who are good with the ball in their hands (Burks, Hayward, Jefferson, etc) and Lillard is a much better spotup shooter than Marshall is likely to ever be. On the other hand, Hayward can probably become more of a spotup shooter should we draft Marshall.

Honestly, I can see both Lillard and Marshall being successful and would be surprised if either of them doesn't end up being a nice player for someone.
