What's new

Following potential 2013 draftees

There will be some nice players, just no superstars. I'd say this will be only the second draft in the past decade with no superstar. I think Shabazz is the only one that has a chance at proving me wrong. He's the only one of the top perimeter players that seems to be able to consistently create his own shot. Noel will never be a good scorer and I don't think you can call someone a superstar unless they can score 20+ PPG.

I think Mclemore has a chance to be a star.

Trey Burke has a dominating game with a win vs #9 Michigan St. In the win Burke had 21 points, 8 assists, 5 steals and 4 rebounds, I have a feeling that he might play himself into the lottery and possibly top-ten if he keeps playing like this and if they keep winning. The winning part is a big if though the playing like this part definitely isn't.

He did shoot 8-17 and missed all 3 three pointers though...

I think he might rise a bit after the tournament - then plateau during the combine - then drop as we get closer to the draft.

His draft will be similar to Kemba IMO, the only difference is that this draft has probably 5 more talented players in the top 10, so it'll likely push Burke out to the #13 - #16 range.

Back away from the ledge spycam.

All drafts are relatively the same. There will be a few studs, some nice role players, and then some trash. And then every so often is a once in a generation player. That guy might not be in this one, but there will be some nice players. It just gets trickier where we are drafting. There will be 3 or 4 players available where we are drafting that will be good. KOC just has to nail it. But we'll get a shot for sure.
Not that I disagree, but this draft is weaker than I ever remember .. at least looking the top of each.
Would anyone NOT take Favors/Kanter #1 in this draft? (with what we know now)
Favors, 'Bazz, Noel, and Kanter would go top 4, imo.
I think either Favors or Noel would go #1 for sure.

If Kanter were to enter this draft as well, without having played a college game, I think he'd go around 4-5, with Mclemore / Shabazz sandwiched in the middle.

See above.

I've said it a
Million times, but every
Draft is always the worst darft evarr!! While the next years draft is filled with franchise players.

Always an over reaction one way or another.

Rep'd.

It may be true, but I just get sick of hearing about hyped up HS'ers. I'll wait until they do something that matters until I decide how good they are.

********. I've called it like I see it every year. People may generally do that, but I refuse to be lumped in.

Kind of strange you say that you're a regular fixture of the draft threads.

This is only true to a small degree, imo. There were plenty of us last year saying 2012 is a strong draft and that 2013 would be weak as argument for why it would be better to miss the playoffs and keep both lottery picks.

Mother ****ing this.

All-Star maybe, but I see no chance of him becoming a superstar (#1 guy on a title contender). He's overrated on both ends of the floor, imo. Only 8% of his offense comes from iso situations (where he never converts), and he's terrible in iso defensive situations which will be more of a problem at the NBA level, not just because the guys he'll be defending are better, but also because you have to play man-to-man a lot more in the pro's than in college ball. On both ends of the floor, he's an awful one-on-one guy.

Doesn't he project as a higher-motor + better rebounded than DJ?

I'm not watching enough cbb to know.

I project him to have a higher motor, better athlete, far better scorer.. I don't yet have a great feel for his defense. Hes getting good blocks but I'm not ready to project what level of rim protector he'll be.

I think the Jazz were fully expecting to draft last year. Then Houston lost 7 of their last 8 games, and the Warriors' tank crossed the finish line. If the Jazz had #13 or #14 last year, maybe they take Terrence Jones or Kendall Marshall. Not really a game-changer for us.

I haven't watched him at all. Is he better than Moultrie?

Or if we had won the coin flip and gotten the 8th pick, we could have drafted Andre Drummond. Game changer.

On a semi-related note, Josh Selby just got waived by Cleveland. Surely he's better than Earl Watson.

This is what he looked like playing in the D-League...

I think he has incredible upside. I've never seen a faster, more athletic 7 footer..
He can dribble through traffic, take his man off the dribble, and uses both hands .. and he's really only been playing a few years.
Love his upside, a lot .. but he should be viewed a project more than finished product.
