Following potential 2013 draftees

Burks being in the top half of the lottery should be of know surprised to anyone. Near 50% shooting, 40 three point shooting, best assist to turnover ratio in the league, and one of the best shoot-off-the-dribble college players in the country.

I could see him go even 4th.

Noel
Smart
Bazz
Burke
McLemore
Oladipo
Bennett
Zeller
Porter
Len

Burke has outplayed McLemore, Oladipo, Bennett, Zeller, Porter. Sure he might not have as NBA-ready of a body, but he essentially has them beat in nearly every other category.

I still don't see why Smart is so unanimously seen as the better prospect. Sure, he is a better physical specimen, but he's not the player that Burke is today (and it's not really that close).

I'd say it's because scouts are projecting a higher ceiling for Smart.

What about Russ Smith?
If he enters where does he go?
Is he good enough to be an NBA PG?
His stock should be soaring.
Would you consider him for the Jazz second round pick as a PG prospect?
He seems like a Monta Ellis, Stephan Curry type player.
Would he fit in with the Jazz future?

But does everyone hit their ceiling? If Smart grows in the next year as much as Burke does, then god damn. Yeah. But refer back to the first sentence. It's not as though Burke is an old bag either.

That's an interesting point - because if you take Burke - his jump from last year to this year is HUGE. Smart is a freshmen this year. MCW - although a sophomore - only really started getting heavy minutes this year.

There's no way of knowing what Smart & MCW can do next year if they decided to come back ala Burke.

anyone else think mcgary plays a lot like kanter vertically challenged but a bull in the paint with a soft touch and range out to 3pt line?

I like mcgary but not what I would look for in a 3rd big. redundant to kanter. I would prefer offense (ie olynyk) or pure defense (ie WCS) leaning towards the offense because both kanter and favors are good defenders.

No way Porter falls all the way to ninth or tenth. Mocks are hating on him because he had to try to carry G-town by himself and couldn't do it, but when he's measured and everyone remembers how long and athletic he is he'll be back up at 5.

Agree. And no one ever has a solid answer.

Totally pass. No way he can play PG. Chucker supreme.

I think 7 is about as high as Burke can get. He still can't get by people and he can't really get to the rim. Everything else checks out.

He was being discussed with the GS pick though, and Olynyk and WCS will be long gone there. I'd probably prefer Withey over McGary due to his elite shot blocking. When Kansas took him out, their defense completely fell apart. I haven't seen enough offense from McGary to prefer him at the center spot over Withey, and McGary is a little too slow footed to play PF in todays NBA.
