What's new

Following potential 2013 draftees

I'm certainly intrigued especially because, like you already pointed out, he can be stashed for a year or more.

What I like:
Versatility
Length
Athleticism
Age

What I don't like:
Motor
Shooting
Lack of fundamentals
Potential

I like potential normally but lately I'm so turned off by it because it feels like that is the excuse we keep hearing from the Jazz as to why certain players are not playing, not being ready etc.

If the Jazz don't draft Saric and do draft a PG in the first round I would like to take a chance on him.

Motor? What?I didn't really see any critiques on his motor from the DX column or video. Pretty much every negative on him is due to a lack of experience and his body not being fully developed. He just turned 18 3 months ago, so that would make him your average HS Senior in America.

My main concern about him would be his ability to play off the ball. I think all the other things will come around given his natural talent level that he appears to posses.

And as far as him not playing, he would be in Europe. The NBA wouldn't be a good place for his initial develop given how raw he is. I would say he would have to spend at least two years in Europe.

At the 8:23 mark.

First weakness: Strength & Explosiveness.

Motor isn't Strength & Explosiveness, Strength & Explosiveness is Strength & Explosiveness. Also known as athletic ability.

He just turned 18, just sprouted 3 inches over the course of a year. He can definitely add to both of those things through a good strength and conditioning program and natural physical maturing.

Motor is your willingness to play hard and compete. They didn't really comment on that.

as far as grIII coming out this year would depend on wether Burke leaves and how well they do in the tourney, who is coming in. he could very well get on a middling team and not get a pg who can get him the ball and his draft stock could plummet next year. of course his projection this year and where and who could draft him also matters.

Or he would be a really good SF on a team without a top dog and he would get the ball a lot more.

The game is going to be a boring blowout. You won't be missing much excitement by not going to it.

****, nevermind, just saw your are going to it. For some reason I read it as you are missing the game to hang out with a HS kid.

Gotcha. That's why I was confused though. I am going. Sitting with Wiggins at the game.

Going to the UK / MissSt game tonight.
Meeting up with none other than Andrew Wiggins.

Holla!

this guy?

someone brought up oladipo and maybe guarding 3's because of his length. IF i had to try defensing wiggins(melo, durant, lebron, gay etc) id much prefer poythress over oladipo(and hayward...)

in my mind its like burks vs shumpert of 2010, ones older, similar measurements, id say probably oladipo probably brings more to the table... next year.

he seems like much more of a player that makes his team better, when you watch oladipo he brings an attrition factor, he rarely screws up, and hes electric.(very easy to like).

poythress is not like that at all, yet. check his game logs, they dont lie. but poythress is built to survive out on an island, especially on defense. which is what we need. if poythress can ever get his game to the constant attrition factor like oladipo, watch out.

are we all just gonna pretend like poythress isnt shooting 42% from 3 and 57% overall...?

I've never said Poythress isn't talented, hell, I've not even pointed to a weak spot in his game. I am implying that he'll get chewed up and spit out in the NBA if he doesn't decide to start playing MUCH harder and with a purpose.

ty doesnt care how crazy his dunks are, when he screws up he will sit, early on. i know you do not wish that on the kid. BUT, inevitably it will increase his learning curve, and motivate him to maximize his minutes. you have lead me to believe he has a very high aptitude, his obvious tools are almost too numerous to list, we have 4 cant miss guys already right? and a 25sf DMC who looks worth keeping, we can afford a gamble on this kid. id contend we cant afford to not go after him.

come 2014 the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse(at-least 4,SF's) in the league by then most sfs will fit the bill of 6'8 7'0 wingspan, and some of them wont be skinny or slow, at all. hayward has no chance he isnt built like that. hes a 2. these types are already here. durant, lebron, melo, george, gerald wallace its laughable imo to say oladipo will be able to hang with these athletes whatsoever.

btw: i prefer poythress over aminu. but i fully endorse the jazz signing aminu at market value and going bpa bpa. i have 3 worthy trade up targets, Shabazz, Austin, Poythress

i endorse Wiggins to be a better prospect than Jordan or Durant, best ive ever seen in the 2/3/4 range. PKM, any chance he plays 2 guard in the league?

now i dont have any insider info. i can only see what is above, and only from below.

but i AM an expert at undressing marketing, my gut tells me Wiggins is a lock to declare at UK, and they are just waiting it out to let the anticipation build. the fact that Randle and Gordon are waiting too, re-enforces this, imo.

Edit : https://ballislife.com/32784/ pkm, do you plan on challenging him to a staring contest?
