What's new

Following potential 2013 draftees

grab 2 role player type players this year and tank for next year then in '15 big push in the playoffs. '16 WCF. '17 nba championship

Liking it.

Except I think we can hit the jackpot if we choose carefully.. WCS or GR III has the potential to become monsters.

If we're tanking '14 season, I'd get a PG there.

Pick BPA at #14.

Burke would probably be BPA at #14 if he's there. Then in '14 we can draft one of the superwings. Unless people like Poythress.

BTW, Marbury was an elite physical talent. He just wasn't a natural PG, and he wasn't the sharpest tack in the board. He should have stayed in Minnesota with KG, but he wanted more money and fame, which didn't exactly work out for him.

this video debunks the trey burke hype-nitis in less than 2 minutes:cool:.

What the hell is this supposed to mean? Marbury was one of the quickest most athletic guards in the game, albeit he was completely retarded. Burke and him have almost nothing in common besides the fact they both play pg.

I think BJ Young will be a decent PG in the league. I think he compares well to someone like Mike Conley. If he were at a bigger program, I think he'd be getting more attention.

marbury is an infinitely more complete prospect.

and averaged 15.8 and 7.8 his rookie season.

tell me what burke does that marbury doesn't as a college prospect.

ill ready my 10 finest points on what marbury does that Trey Burke doesn't

say what you want about marbury and his psych profile.

19.3ppg and 7.6asissts per game CAREER AVG, over the course of 846 games (816 starts) i dont think burke can do either one of those numbers in any given season anytime during his career, strikes me as a rotation player, not a starter

So, I've literally only read this page of the thread and will now ask an annoying question as a result: whats the consensus on Burke? What am I missing thats showing him in the mid to late teens on mocks? Plays in the best conf, scorer, high asst numbers for the college game, turns the ball over at a low rate in comparison, shoots a high percentage from the floor, including 3 and shoots well at the ft line.

Is it his height? I've watched 10 mins of him on TV and thats all, but everything else says this kid is a legit talent in an extremely bad draft (IMO).

I would guess his height and his first step/blow-by/athleticism even moreso.

Hmm, I thought athletically he was supposed to be above average. I'll have to watch some vids of him. Just seems odd.

May be, but with his height, you'd want it to be a bit more than "above average" to make up for it (Bledsoe?), but it's not... unfortunately...

Chris Paul is probably 5'11" and was never more than an average athlete by NBA standards. FWIW, I think Burke is a bit quicker than Chris Paul was. So what if he can't stay in front of the fastest guards nowadays. No one can. You have to put your best wing defender on them.

If Burke can run an NBA offense and learn how to use space well to get his shot off or get a floater in the lane he should be fine. TBH, the guy he reminds me of is the rookie version of Tony Parker, and he has an even better jump shot. Obviously Parker refined his game and developed his 'dive-bomb-to-the-rim' thing, but Burke could make it. It would just be nice if he had the size and quicks that BJ Young has.

Yes OK re: Chris Paul. But why are we looking at Burke at #16 in a weak draft, but Paul was like #4 in a strong draft?

PKM? PGod_Burks? Anyone?

Chris Paul is one of the greatest PG's of all-time. id like to stick with the marbury comparison. it really shows the grade of trey burkes athletecism.

First off i really just think burke is in the right place at the right time, thats what peaked my curiosity.

He reminds me of a duller version of steph curry.

as far as classing him in the 5-10 range, theres a marked disconnect with his athletecism. compared to lets say, Marbury.

Burke isnt a guy who attacks the basket, hes a probing pg.

when he goes to the rack, he doesnt have hightlights he gets sent back, tbh.

i have red-flagged his go-to dribble move which isnt a blow-by crossover its a step back J, (hence steph curry)

As a probing PG i dont see him any more proficient then lets say jamal tinsley, in an AST/Turnover sense.

lastly i find his game to be very straightforward, not the type of athelte like d-wade with that ability to get spectacular and 1's.

when i made this point about burkes lack of a blow-by dribble move someone posted gifs that have been used to promote burke, every crossover was against a white kid.

lastly he fades away instead of attacking the basket, I'll pass. I actually like MSU's PG Keith Appling better to translate to the nba, especially considering market-value

and most importantly i prefer our PG, Alec Burks over Burke, any day.

My Outlook on Alec is in 2 years@ 23 to be near linsanity levels of last year. My 4year outlook is Penny Hardaway.
