Following potential 2013 draftees

I think it will have more to do with perceived upside. I can't imagine Oladipo going before Shabazz, Porter, McLemore, or Smart. DX has him over Shabazz and Porter right now.

'Bazz smells like a team-wrecker to me and lied about his age because he and his handlers have been spurting all over their tummies about money, so I can kind of see that. He'll be too tantalizing for some team and I doubt he falls out of the top-5, if even the top-3. Oladipo is a better defender than Porter and his engine doesn't stop and that matters. I'm sure he'll measure terrifically also (mostly length and athletic). He's a lock for top-10, whether he gets top-5 or not.

I've never had a good vibe for him. I've said it here many times, even before the age debacle. He just looks like he's in it solely to make money, and that's never a good thing.

I know you guys don't like ESPN, but their revised big board is:

1. Noel
2. Smart
3. McLemore
4. Porter
5. Bennet
6. Oldadipo
7. Burke
8. Bazz
9. MCW
10. Zeller
11. Harris
12. Len
13. McCollom
14. Robinson III
15. Plumlee
16. Olynyk
17. Franklin
18. Saric

Damn.. if this is true we'd have to use our own pick just to grab Robinson III. I think my dream draft of Burke/MCW & Robinson III is now just that - a dream.

Allow me to share something about Shabazz that may change some minds.. and may not.

'Bazz is known as a very hard worker.. gym rat. HIGH motor and entirely driven. Unfortunately some of these kids aren't well represented by their parents and 'handlers' begin to emerge. Sometimes this leads to too many telling the kid want they want to hear.. 'you're the best.. you should be getting more minutes'.. etc.

Other times there are shady dealings ('Bazz' dad negotiating a contract with Adidas for 'Bazz' sister who would NEVER have gotten a contract if not for being the sister of..

Some kids totally buy in to their own hype, to varying degrees. Renardo Sidney stopped working.. everyone told him he already arrived.. he felt entitled to all the money and fame without the work. There are way too many others that fit this description.

As for 'Bazz, he bought into it to the extent that he thinks he should be 'the guy.' That's bad.. it can cause chemistry problems, etc. But 'Bazz never stopped wanting it. Never stopped loving the game and wanting to win. That's why I think he should be taken top3.. he has overcome more than he has fallen for his own hype.

When Calipari was recruiting him. Cal once said (PRIVATELY), I love the kid, love the talent, but there's just too much baggage/too much entourage. He went on to say that sometimes the kids ask for it but other times it's purely the parents/handlers. Cal was convinced 'Bazz was a great kid and basketball player that was more unknowingly being sucked off of..

Fair enough. I think Porter is a much better offensive player as he matures as compared to Oladipo, but we won't really know for a long time so it's kinda pointless.

I definitely think Oladipo is a lock for top 10, when I said slide I meant from like 5 to 10ish.

I can't believe the GSW Warriors are in the playoffs, and ****ing us yet again. I thought they'd be in the 7-8 range now giving us a shot at Burke or MCW

I can believe it. We should have "tanked" last year - kicking GSW out of the 7th pick in the process and get x2 picks. Then play for real this year.

KOC would say "No, our young guys need to learn what it's like to win". Well does it seem like Curry/Thompson/Lee have lost anything following their tank strategy last year? Nope. The added talent of Barnes have actually helped them.

It's all about selling tickets. We don't want to shoot for the star - we just want to shoot for profits.

So... he's basically kind of a piece of crap, but it's not his fault? That's a relief.

One question. Was it Bazz's decision to go to UCLA? Or didn't Calipari want him?
