Following potential 2013 draftees

OK guys - the video you've all been waiting for - DX's scouting of MCW. It wasn't too bad actually. He's long and has quick feet - so he should be a pretty good perimeter defender (ala TayShaun Prince?). Imagine him at PG, Hayward at SG, Greek Freak at SF and Favors & Kanter. That's a pretty good defensive team already.

He can create for himself and others - being able to feed Favors and Kanter would be GOLD. With his drop offs, he could probably give Favors 2-3 easy buckets/dunks per game, easy. Also, unlike Marshall last year who can't score, MCW has a solid first step and can get to the rim (he just needs to get better at finishing).

Weaknesses - his shooting mechanics aren't broken - he just needs to get up more shots and be consistent with it. Also he needs to get stronger to be able to finish at the rim - but he should be able to do that over time IMO.

For me, we need to get either MCW or Schroeder at #14. As long as we can get 1 of them I'd be happy.

Pass. No pun intended.

Holy ****, just watched the weaknesses part and this guy can't even dribble against pressure.

Pass, pass, pass, pass. This dude is like Alec Burks minus the natural offensive ability.

Please guys, when considering MCW, consider him as if we're picking him at #14. Cos that's what we're looking at here. He's not a top #5 talent - yes I do get that. And McCollum is looking like he'll be top #10 - so for those still dreaming - stop the dreaming.

If you take Kendall Marshall who's a much lesser talent - he went #13 in last year's LOADED draft.

We're talking MCW who's a much better athlete, similar level of shooting & passing, but can get to the basket at will. We're looking at him at #14 in this watered down, weakest-in-ages draft.

Please keep this in mind / in perspective.

I'd rather have Marshall. A guy who actually probably has more scoring instincts than MCW, and is a good deal more intelligent.

The draft isn't that weak at 14. It's weak in All-Star talent. I would say it's a fairly average draft.

I don't know how you can assess that Marshall is more intelligent than MCW. You don't lead college bball in assists by not having a vision to create for others. If you can do that, that's enough intelligence for me.

Also MCW is light years ahead of Marshall defensively. You play MCW with Hayward and Greek Freak/Burks, you can just switch everything on perimeter defense. Not to mention the steals you'll get from him.

Here's my prediction:

At 14, we take Olynyk, Schroeder or Goodwin (with an outside chance at KCP)

We sit back and watch who's there at 21. If there's someone we like at 17 or 18, we trade 21 and our 2nd pick to move up a few spots and call it a day.

Didnt say I was Hating him, just said I do not want him on the Jazz.

Well what makes the Jazz so unique that you wouldn't want him here?

- Do we need a PG? Check.
- Can we use a pass first PG feeding Favors & Kanter? Check.
- Has he shown leadership skills and a winner (something KoC always liked)? Check.
- Do we need better perimeter defense, especially on contested 3's? Check.
- Would MCW be BPA at #14 pick? Check.
- Are any of his shortcomings fixable? Check.

All of the PGs at our draft position have major question marks.

Dennis Schroeder maturity issues, and can he hit enough jumpers to be successful. McCollum isn't great at the pick n roll, and could be another 2 stuck in a Pg's body. Watch his DX video he makes a lot of errors running the team. MCW is flawed like the rest, but he has to be considered. If we choose one of these guys their success will rely on how well they can close the holes in their games.

All good points Hotttnickkk, I can see why he could be a good pick and a good player, I dont know why exactly I dont like him, I just have a gut feeling about him. Of course my gut feelings have been wrong in the past.
