Following potential 2014 draftees

If Burke struggles I think there is going to be a lot of pressure/debate over getting a PG with this probable high lotto pick.

I really hope we don't. We need to add a star 2 or 3 to be that thing we all want. Championship contenders.
Another PG just isn't going to take us there. I think Burke is going to hold down that position just fine.

I do too.

I said this earlier. Give me a solid PG, a solid 3-big man rotation... then fill the roster with 6'7/6'8 wings that can shoot and create.

I'd rather have a star at the 2 or 3 than a star at PG.

In this draft, James Young and LaQuinton Ross are very interesting (and they are tracking our picks .. Young around 10-12 and Ross around 16 - 20).

James Young - 6'7 - a lefty sweet shooting guard (2/3) that also averaged 15 rebounds and 5 asts last year... to go along with 27pts. 44% from 3.

Ross - 6'8 (7'1 wingspan) that shoots at 40% from 3.

I like these tall bouncy guys that can handle the ball and shoot it from outside... gimme like 5 of them.

No homo, right?

That 5-9 draft area is very tricky and I hope the Jazz can avoid it. They REALLY REALLY need that ONE guy who can draw double teams on every possession. Otherwise the Jazz ceiling will be way lower. Because I don't see them repeat that '04 Pistons once in 30 year random luck campaign without a superstar but many stars that have great chemistry.

Yeah.. Parker is who we realistically need that may be gettable.

Honestly, I think Parker is going to be the best player in this draft. Calling it.

Wiggins just seems over-hyped to me because of his extreme athletic ability. Reminds me of T-Mac more than anyone.

I like the size, power, and skill of Parker. Seems like a Melo clone with better intangibles.

I would be extremely surprised if Parker fell out of the Top 4. Duke performs so strong on a regular basis that I simply don't see it coming that he hurts his stock there. Coach K is a great person from what I've ever read about and good basketball teacher who'll put Parker into a position to highlight his strengths. Maybe even make his weaknesses appear like strengths.

I agree about Parker.. but I don't agree that Wiggins is too hyped.

I like Ohio State and Michigan as well... with UNC just behind those.

My EARLY Cinderella team? The Wichita State Shockers. Watch out.

You have UNC as being good?

Meh. They're an average team.

Duke will be quite good, but not championship caliber.

Can wait to see how Young does this year. If he has a good year I wonder if picking him at 6-7 would be a reach.
I know nothing about the guy other than what you guys are saying. Will be fun to focus on.

Wiggins is the real deal. Maybe it's more the fact that people underestimating Jabari.
I think you're just trying to be different in that small chance that Wiggins is a let down, so you can boast on here.

Ouch.

Was looking at how different cbb team's high picks have fared in the nba.
Kansas: take a look at their last 6 top 15 picks;
- Cole Aldrich
- Xavier Henry
- Marcus Morris
- Markeif Morris
- Julian Wright
- Thomas Robinson

One scout said, "there should be a warning sign as you enter Allen Fieldhouse."

So that basically means that Bill Self is the best college coach? He's apparently better at playing all his players to their strengths and overselling their value by masking their weaknesses.

He and coach K are both very good at that.
It's funny. Some coaches actually recruit with that tactic.
Calipari tells every recruit, "My system is a more pro-style system and if you can't play you'll be exposed. Don't come play at UK if you can't take criticism, because if you can't dribble the ball, everyone will know that, can't shoot.. you'll be exposed. However, if you're serious about improving your game, can take the heat, have the strong work ethic to improve, and know you can play ball... I'll let you play. I'll let you run. I I won't hold you back."

He flat out tells them he will make no attempt to hide their deficiencies. He tells them he won't lie to them and it will he crystal clear what they have to work on. Haters may say otherwise, but Cal has been dead-on on this. The dribble drive exposes weaknesses.. but also allows kids to showcase all the skills they do have. He basically challenges their manhood during the recruiting process.

That sounds very much like Kentucky.
