Following potential 2014 draftees

But one thing I'm not sure why he's not doing it , is joining a mid major program where he can play hero ball and lead the program to a surprising NCAA tourney, where his team can't win due to quality and depth around him. That's win win. He's getting best exposure and practice until the draft and solidifies his draft stock. Just because DX is drooling , doesn't mean NBA scouts see him that far up as well.

It will depend on talking with teams rather than mock drafts, but using the assumption his stock is high, there are a couple of reasons the above doesn't work.

1) He's not good enough, alone, to make a mid-major do much, that wouldn't have done much without him.
2) If he plays college he loses a year of income..

I just don't see it.

Why does he lose a year of income? He joins in December and leaves in April. He can't play in Europe for that duration as a 18 year old. In the Australian league he could join for really small bucks but worse coaching and individual development. DLeague could be a possibility as well but uniform D-League joke contracts $40k/season are making it hard to decide to that route.
So why not join a strong individual development coach whose program you propel a little bit or practice with a good program.
I don't know if individual trainer like Grover give loans/back loaded payment plans or if his parents have the funds to let him practice individually for half a year leading up to the draft.
I just think with more tape for the scouts he might solidify his high position.

The ruling is that if he enrolls in school in December he is ineligible until the '15 draft. I guess it's the "one year removed from college" thing... and he didn't spend an entire year. I don't recall the details, but everyone recruiting him knows that if he enrolls in December he cannot declare for the '14 draft... but if he doesn't go to college, at all, he can declare for '14.

Oh thanks, I wasn't aware of that. Yeah in that case please don't go to college. If you're a lock to go top7 in the ridiculous 2014 draft and there's so many teams waiting for their chance(aka LeBron to get old), who have strong development coaches and plenty of playtime to develop your skills. Plus there's very few good SGs in the NBA anyways. Most would trade away everyone on that position to let him develop ASAP.
I just think he should get some gametape. Not playing actual games has hurt players stocks quite some times. And it's quite a big difference in rookie contract earnings if you're a #3 or #10 pick.

Those twins are closer than any two brothers I've ever seen in my life time.

With Andrew's stock high and Aaron's seemingly falling, a 'promise' to Aaron with the GSW pick may actually help land both.

Exactly...

Plus you'll need to get your hands dirty on the "promise" part IMO.

I keep saying how good Zona will be this year but just realized we haven't discussed Rondae Hollis-Jefferson.
A forward that is a defensive stopper that will guard 4 positions this year (PG - PF). MONSTER.

When picking up a game to watch Gordon.. pay attention to Hollis-Jefferson. He could potentially go from NOWHERE on the mocks to mid first/late lottery.

Thanks for the heads up. Will check him out.

Noah should definitely be a OAD. I don't see Noah better than Parker and I do view Parker a SF a la Pierce.

I feel Vonleh is kinda raw. He does some things really well, but his offense needs plenty of polish. I could imagine him staying a 2nd year if he doesn't feel he'll go top10. If you land on these 11-14 teams which barely missed the POs you don't get as much playing time to improve as a player of his talent would need.
Similar to Bennett, but this is an exceptional situation, where they try to skip rebuilding steps.

Noah shouldn't stay because he's raw, but he should go back if he seems to be slipping to late lottery, which will be possible.

He really lacks killer instinct on the court and those guys always scare me. Loads of upside, limitless potential, but guys rarely 'develop' that take-over-the-game mentality.

That's exactly what I said. Stay when you're not top 10(you could make an argument for 7 maybe, as there's only 7 clear cut tanking teams). But if he doesn't develop his talents not getting minutes on a borderline playoff team like Cleveland or New Orleans would be worst case scenario.

i have a feeling Noah Vonleh is going to be 1 and done, IU tested his vertical and says he can touch 12' which means a 38" vertical if his standing reach is still 8'10"

i think Wiggins is a SG, so in my opinion Vonleh is the top SF prospect in either 2014 or 15

A defensive front line of Gobert, Favors, Vonleh...good night opposing team.

I am on a wait and see with vonleh. he has all the tools does he have the desire? I said at the first of the thread that I thought vonleh could play sf but we will see.
