What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

Jeremy Lamb, who was bigger and more advanced (but still super skinny and kind of raw), is kind of similar to Lavine. Lamb just started getting minutes this year, and has seen his minutes decrease every month since 2014.

Would rather have McDaniels tbh.

I don't like Lamb's defense and the only skill he's doing is hitting wide open 3s on an acceptable clip.
Jalen said it best on his grantland show:
I'm totally jealous of Jeremy Lamb. He's getting wide open 3s from Durant. I could hit 4 wide open 3s in the corner every game.

He basically doesn't show any extra movement

Then agents would hold players out of workouts out of concern that they'd break a nail.

Can we get back to evaluating prospects?

Or they'd go get nail extensions before measurements.

worlds largest hands for scale... 12½"

sorry dude, that guy is a fraud. none of his claimed measurements are official.
https://www.thetallestman.com/leonidstadnyk.htm

that dude is named leonid stadnyk, and he is nothing but a fraud. He claimed he is like 8ft 4. but in reality he is 'only' about 7ft 7. he refuses to get measured by Guinness.

but this dude - officially measured at 8ft 3. and he currently holds the biggest hand title.

hes wrong about this one, and certainly using more imagination than evidence. Kenyon Martins wingspan is elite, not 7'1". If its not 7'6" its close.

Anthony Davis, Hasheem Thabeet, Bismack Biyombo all registered around 7'6" wingspans, heres some pics

either you just have bad eyes for this, or you just hate being wrong.

anthony davis has a freaky long arm. just look at him! 7ft 5 1/2 wingspan.

he also has unusually wide shoulders. and he is most likely taller than kmart. kmart is listed at 6ft 9. his height isn't even measured officially. i doubt he is taller than brow.

thabeet? dude is taller than gobert. duh.

biyombo? another dude with freaky long arm. it's cartoonish

you are basically saying a 6ft 8 - 6ft 8 1/2 guy who looks like this has same wingspan as javale mcgee's.

it's hard to believe.

freaky long arms are noticeable on court. you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know if some dudes has 7ft 5 + wingspan. maybe it's just me, but kmart doesn't seem like he has that freaky long arms. and he wasn't officially measured. so why would i ever believe hearsay? maybe he does have 7ft 6 wingspan. but again, if it isn't official, then it isn't official.

Just got to have faith.

Yup, that super skinny kid who can dunk and hit 3's. Great player in the making. If only basketball was just dunking and shooting 3's and there wasn't defense or decision making involved.

yup. just look at gerald green. took him forever to be a serviceable baller. this kid might be somebody in year 2020. i don't have that kinda patience

I think Green is a great comparison. Hadn't thought of that one before. Green with his head screwed on right would have been a nice player a lot sooner than this year.

word. doc rivers said something like 'green just didn't know how to play basketball'.

no substance in his game. guys like that takes forever to grow up. and by the time you become somebody you lose that great athletic ability. fortunately for green's case he still has that mad athleticism and he really worked hard at getting better. green really is a poster child for raising the age limit. imagine green going to duke for 3 years. he would've been decent right away.

i feel like lavine needs to stay in school for 2 more years. he got tools to be great down the road. but i want somebody who can step right in and give me good 25 minutes.

Still good news for us, even if the draft pick only moves a couple of spots.

I'm counting on Lindsey combining the GS pick and the 2nd-rounder to move into the late teens. Just a spot or two higher could help. Maybe Boston at #18 could be a trade partner; they need more players. If New York makes the playoffs, perhaps Orlando (they'll get that pick via Denver) would even trade the #15 pick for the #22 and #35 (not likely, though).

With a high lottery pick, the GS selection and an early 2nd, the Jazz will have everyone and their dog in for workouts. It will be fun listening to all the post-workout interviews. It's always an interesting thread when we debate the nuances of what has been said by Lindsey, Perrin and the players.

PKM, make Jabari declare for the draft already.
I hear PKM is meeting with Adam Silver. As a reward for not losing on purpose, Jazz are going to win the lottery this year, pick Wiggins, and then pull an Orlando and win again next season from the 14th spot. That's why Jabari isn't declaring; he's waiting for the deal to be finalized before declaring he'll return to Duke. It's a little complicated because Coach K is also part of the package. Stern tried to get him to coach an NBA team for years, but he just wouldn't budge. Lindsey now has to strike a 1-year deal with either Corbin or another coach. Sloan has been reluctant to assume the reigns again and then step aside for Coach K in 2015.
