Would Favors + 5th be enough? Would you do it?

Without even thinking about it. I like Favors but I don't think he is ever going to be great because he is too passive of a person. He doesn't have that warrior mentality or he hasn't really shown it. Embiid gets a little testy and is 7'1" with 7'5.5" wingspan. It isn't enough to get the 1st out of Cleveland's hand. They are dumb but I doubt they are that dumb.

Delon Wright averaged 16 per night and he can't hit the broad side of a barn. Just because you are a scorer, doesn't mean you are a shooter or can shoot.

Then, scoring in college against Humanities major is much different than scoring against 30 year old man making a living in the NBA.

He'll need to lose weight. There aren't many 250 pound SFs in the league.

Vonleh WAS an SF. Then he grew 1.5 inches and gained 25 lbs. He's not far off. A bunch of guys at 6'9" 240 lbs have played SF, including Kevin Durant, Marvin Williams, AK, Rashard Lewis, Lamar Odom....

Oh, and while we're at it, add Jabari Parker.

Vonleh has enough perimeter skills on offense to do it, and defensively I think he can challenge most SFs with his length. There's just going to be an occasional Nic Batum-type match-up, where you'd want Hayward or Evans to play SF.

On the other topic, I think Favors + 5 might get you Parker at #3, but not Embiid. Philly might even throw in #10, but I doubt it.

Is anyone arguing this? He is a scorer though and that you can't refute.

He is a scorer. The problem is, a lot of his scoring doesn't translate to the NBA. College scorer doesn't always NBA scorer. If refs don't bail/help/give him the call the first couple of years, he will really, really struggle if he can't hit an outside shot. If he had an outside shot, he would be a top 3 pick this year. With that body, drive, etc. He would be golden.

Why would you want to? He was a very strong rebounder and above average shot blocker for a PF. Move him out to guard perimeter guys and you lose all that.

Because a line-up with Hayward at SG, Vonleh at SF, Kanter at PF and Favors at C has some damn nice scoring, rebounding and defense. I think he can do it. He was out of position all year at Indiana. He's not a C. He's not that physical.

I am absolutely convinced that if we sit still at 5 and the top 4 guys stay in the top 4, we are selecting smart. It makes the most sense. I would even be on board with Kanter staying. Yeah ****! Go figure. We would have the defensive wing to pair with favors rim protection. We would be very solid at all 5 spots and have a solid 6 man, probably develop into the top 3 guard rotation the league has. I think smart would bring the nasty and we would get our offense from burks kanter and smart. Chilling at happy hour, yo I'm bright on this!

If this happens, who would you start?

I agree with Vermin. I'd start Burke and Hayward. You can still play Smart 25-30 mins a night between the 1 and 2 spots. Tell Burke and Smart that Burke is the starter, but it isn't in stone. The best man will start and play more minutes.

Pretty simple stuff.

I'd do the same if we drafted Exum. Burke and Hayward start. Play Exum 25-30 mins a night. If come December, Exum is the best PG/SG, then start him. If not, that's fine.

BTW, if we take Smart, then I hope they try to package Burke and #23 for something awesome.

Cuz I'd start

Smart/Burks/Hayward/Favors/Kanter

Nah I don't think that's a good lineup.

Smart & Burks = The Clank Brothers.

I think i would do that trade even without the #10 pick.

If we get the 10 then that would be a steal

What about burks?
