Following potential 2014 draftees

As I've written before I think Hayward's shot selection is different than Burks. I didn't say that Burks development is bad. I just don't think Burks is a better shooter because Hayward's shot selection contains more complex attempts. If you'd compare C&S which is like 99% of Burks attempts then you'd have a comparable shot selection.

Alec had 86 catch and shoot 3PA out of his 145 3PA, so 59,3% of his 3PA were C&S situations.

Gordon had 215 catch and shoot 3PA out of his 280 3PA, so 76,8% of his 3PA were C&S situations.

Who took more complex attemts?

If correct, this surprises me

You're surprised that the guy on the jazz known for his ability to create his own shot off the bounce takes less spot up jumpers than Hayward or anybody else on the team? Burks ability to create his own shot is what defines him at this stage of his career. I'm actually surprised it's that close.

Marcus Smart doin' work.

For me that was the least exciting/impressive of the ones so far (parker, embiid, gordon)

He doesnt look that quick (side to side) imo and his release on his jumper looks a little slow.

He does look big, powerful, and explosive though

If front offices think that Vonleh can play minutes at SF, then he'll be gone by #5.

Perhaps, But I think the draft key is Exum.

Report out of Philadelphia has them taking Exum and possibly shopping MCW.
1. Cleveland - Embiid. This is a LOCK!
2. Milwaukee - Wiggins (or Parker). Tough call.
3. Philadelphia - Exum
4. Orlando - Vonleh
5. Utah - Parker

This is one reason I don't think DL will sell the farm trying to trade up. The draft isn't just 4 deep; Vonleh impressed at the combine and in his workout afterwards. He's now in play. And likely a reason DL said he was very pleased the Jazz only dropped 1 spot.

For those who don't like Vonleh, then hope he goes top-4. Then Utah perhaps has to settle between Exum or Parker.

No chance Vonleh goes before Parker, imnsho.

I don't believe so, either. But I LOVE Vonleh and hope the Jazz take him at #5 (if top four is Embiid, Wiggins, Parker, Exum). But if I put him there, there will be 50 posts that follow arguing over Gordon or Smart at #5 for Utah. My main point is I think this draft is now 5 deep at the top.

Smart could be in the discussion at #4 if Exum goes top 3.

There's a hairball's chance that Parker drops to 5 due to Exum and Smart going top 4.

Noah's work ethic has been described as 'Indefatigable'

there's a bunch of stories... he really was playing pick-up basketball all the time, when he wasnt in school or at practice he was in the gym basically.

i dont think too many Highschool Prep stars walk a mile to work out at the local YMCA regularly.

his AAU coach said Noah would call him constantly to open the gym beyond his normal practice routine, sometimes 2 times a day

"I think in your career of coaching elite-level guys, everybody has something," Pastore said. "Some guys are great workers, some are great athletes, some are high-, high-character kids. Some are very intelligent. Noah is the one guy I've had in my career that had everything. "Noah has it all."

“Have you shaken his hand yet? Go shake his hand. It’s as hard as a catcher’s mitt. And usually when a kid’s hands are like that, you don’t have the touch. But he defies everything.”

"The type of way he's driven, I don't think a lot of people have that," said his cousin, Jeremie Jackley. "This dude, he goes to bed dreaming about it."

Jackley recalled a two-on-two pickup game where Noah, 12 at the time, was his teammate — and much younger than Jackley and their opponents. The other team smirked at the kid, then watched him drop a string of baskets to win.

"This is the golden child," Jackley recalled telling them. "Just remember that."

"Noah didn't talk no smack, no trash," Jackley said. "He was just the humble kid he is today. He just let his game talk.

"It's almost like he looks at it like, 'I was put on this earth to do this. There's no need for me to be boastful.' "

He isn't colorful in media interviews, either. Vonleh recalled being introduced to basketball by his cousins, including Jackley.

"I just wanted to be like them," he said.

Yesterday, I was all over drafting Gordon after seeing his video. Now after reading this article I would take Vonleh. Man I just want this draft to be over. I am glad I don't have to make the pick.

There is a report on hoopshype that Philly is willing to trade MCW so they can draft Exum. If this happens the draft will get very interesting.

I think there's a decent chance Parker drops to #4 if Exum goes to Philly. Lindsey might then be able to swing a deal with Orlando if they really like Vonleh. Give them the #23 to move up one spot.

Yep, that's the report I was referencing, cowhide. I was too lazy to go back and get the link. Exum going top-3 changes the dynamics of the draft.
