Following potential 2014 draftees

MmHg
Guys.. we've always thought that all these players will declare for the '14 draft.

My question is: What are the chances some of these guys stay for more than 1 year in college?

Guys that I think could stay back for 1 more year:

- Jabari Parker: He just seems a bit 'different' to everyone else... by going to Duke, by saying things like "I'm not ready to play in the NBA"

- Andrew Wiggins: Who knows what he's gonna do?

- Exum: Still lots of question marks around him

- Aaron Gordon: If he waited 1 more year, he could probably go #1 in '15 draft?

Anyone else???
Be forewarned... my multi-quote button is still not working from my phone.

Okay.... wiggins is in this draft 100%. Jabari 99%. Gordon 90%. Exum 80%..

Yeah I know that. It's still strikes me as odd that while the Harrison brothers & Julius are very confident they're ready, Jabari who is probably the most ready of the bunch, simply said "NO".

He also picked Duke which isn't known as a 'one and done' school...

Obviously money also isn't an object to him, so I think there is a slight chance he stays 1 more year if he really enjoyed the experience at Duke.

I disagree with every sentence.

OK... may be if the Jazz are projected to get a decent draft pick, he would consider coming out?

As a mormon, what do you think? Would he like to come to the mecca of Mormonism? Or would he not care about it much?

Its a bizness decision more than a religious one, imo. Meaning, his religious beliefs are a personal matter and I believe he would be more attracted to Utah for;
1) chance to play on a winning team
2) marketability because of ties to Mormonism.

I'm not seeing the latter.. I don't see it being that big of deal.

People talking about High School players with absolute certainty before they have played a single college game is by far PKM's worst contribution to Jazzfanz.

This thread will become relevant when the college season starts, which isn't soon enough.

False. Hugely false.
But, as u suggested yourself... go away until the season starts..... and prove you mean what you said. B-bye (seems like we say that to you often).

Sounds like how Lamar Odom was described coming out of Rhode Island, big small forward that has all the tools and would be better suited to create mismatches at the power forward position. Lamar is now looked at as a bust according to what selection he was made in the 99 draft.

I was never a big fan of Odom. I saw him as more of a gimick. Randle has a totally different psyche.

Maybe, I just find it hard to believe anyone on this board other than PKM actually pays attention enough to the HS scene to actually comment on it and have those comments hold weight.

PKM's best contribution is getting people to actually talk about NCAA basketball, and for that I thank him dearly. When the season starts I will be in this thread, until then I just find it annoying as hell.

That was a better explanation. More fair. Not that I agree.. but better than that abortion of a post you made just prior.

Guys, I'm trying to get myself to be really excited for the other guys just in case we don't get Wiggins.

Jabari Parker, Aaron Gordon, Dante Exum, Julius Randle, and Andrew Harrison are exciting guys to think bout too.

If I was 'Bari and yes we will call him that, I would definitely come out if the Jazz had a top-3 pick.
Btw, the Harrison's have also said they're not coming out after one year. They said they're in no hurry to be separated and want to play together as long as possible.

Like Jabari... they'll be in the draft.

Btw.. I am embracing the hate again this year. I am well aware that I will take a beating here each time UK loses. I'm expecting 3 or 4 losses.... brutal schedule very early in the season and they'll take a couple early lumps while they find chemistry.

Most every kid says they're in no hurry to leave as it's the politically correct thing to do... just some get quoted more than others.

By "he" are you referring to PKM?

I clearly said I respect his opinion on HS players (even though I don't care about it because I'd rather just wait for them to start playing NCAA.). PKM knows his stuff when it comes to HS guys.

I see everyone else as just regurgitating other people's opinions or just basing everything off highlight film.

Gotcha- took your post another way. Still came off as a dick though.

Maybe others have become more aware thanks PKM? Perhaps posters are paying more attention. It does seem there are alot of experts suddenly, but I think some of them are tuning in more. Good for the site IMO. More true bball junkies the better.

There is zero doubt there are many more people following recruiting and scouting than there were. I don't care how qualified someone is (doesn't mean I won't callm out doe)... I just like talking about players way before we get to see them play in the league... and I suspect others will/are find it more gratifying as well.

Julius Randle being similar to Lamar would definitely not be too bad. Yeah he isn't a franchise player, but I think people forget the type of production he used to put up. 17/8/5? Not very many players in the NBA who can do that right now.

I think Randle could better in the paint though-- and allow him for easier scoring. But is his passing as good as a young Lamar's?

Interesting comp
