What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

I'm not on board with this (just reserving judgement), but one NBA "director of scouting" said James Young looks like a top5 talent in the next draft.

He said;
Wiggins
Randle
Parker
Exum
Young

I don't have Young in my top5 and I have Parker SLIGHTLY ahead of Randle.. but just thought I'd share

This is GREAT news.

The more guys we have entering the top, the better chances we have at "grabbing" the likes of Parker, Randle, Harrison brothers, etc.

Analysis question for you draft gurus. Who has the better complimentary skills between Parker and Wiggins for the group of Favors, Kanter, Covert, Hayward, Burks and Burke? Pros and cons of each for the needs of this team.

Parker, but you still go with Wiggins.

In the end the better compliment will simply be the better player...and that will most likely be Wiggins.

I think you have to go BPA regardless of who complements our team.

FWIW I think Wiggins would complement our team better as we already have great shooters in Kanter, Hayward and (potentially) Burke. We need someone with ELITE athleticism and serious slashing ability and Wiggins would provide that in spades.

Didn't really answer but thanks.

Doesn't Burks have that?

Kinda like saying Fender Strats and Fender Squiers both have 6 strings, 2 pickups, looks similar (even identical in some cases), therefore they must sound the same.

Burks has elite slashing ability and can draw fouls. I'm not saying Bruks = Wiggins. I'm saying you want an elite athletic slasher. I'm saying don't we already have that?

Wait a minute. Hayward is a GREAT shooter? mmm not yet my friend

One thing I've wanted to see more of is Burks slamming and finishing over people. I've seen him make acrobatic shots, and a good ability to draw fouls.
I have not seen him finish over and through people. I believe Wiggins can, and will in the NBA.

Parker is the perfect fit and I am not convinced he is not the best. he is the Tim duncan of this draft, being fundamentally sound. he can play the 3 with Burke, Hayward, Parker, kanter and favors. then slide over and play the 4.

wiggins has a ton of talent but will play the 2 which will force Hayward to play the 3 where he is not ideal. wiggins has all world talent but not u der Ty he would figure a way to screw him up. (Parker is already sound in his ability)

randle would become the best big on our team and that is saying a lot with favors and kanter on the team. he is a good compliment to either favors or kanter slightly better with kanter.

andrew Harrison is a beast but I am still waiting to see what Burke does. he again would probably force Hayward to the 3 or Burke to the bench. best pg talent since d-will's class.

smart is over powering but noy convinced he can do it regularly. he would play alongside Burke but isn't a good enough shooter. see above moving Hayward to the 3.

Gordon is the biggest wildcard. if he can hit the outsie shot and play the 3 he is a good fit. not polished like Parker but plays above the rim. I like him but has a lot of question marks.

exum is a great combo guard. again forcing Hayward to the 3. he has everything and is second only to Parker on fundamentals. he can play along side Burke but needs the ball in his hands.

James young is the second best fit in my opinion. he plays defense he can shoot it and he is looking like he can drive. he fits alongside Hayward by playing the hardest defensive assignment. Hayward and young would be interchangeable.

that is how I see it.

Nice analysis but why couldn't Wiggins play SF, he is listed at 6'8"?

he could that would be the best redeeming quality. I just think he will play the 2

Very good, Jako.

I wouldn't touch Smart or Aaron Gordon.
