Following potential 2014 draftees

@LazyD

Is ISU srsly good enough this year to make it a near pick'm with Michigan?

At home, yes definitely, especially if McGary is out. But Ejim being out for ISU is huge. Everyone's sleeping on Deandre Kane who is certain to be way more physical than any guard Michigan has. He's a beast. McGary would be able to feast on the lack of post defense ISU has, but without him I'm unsure who Michigan has that is capable down low, which is where ISU gets beat.

The only problem is that Hoiberg's teams are much like Kentucky. They underwhelm early in the season, and then are a well-oiled machine my tournament time. But I think they'll be up for it, packed house, Dickie V making his first appearance, Johnny Orr back in town, and multiple top 100 recruits visiting.

Next year is when ISU will really be stacked, especially if Rashad Vaughn is in town

UK players talking about Julius Randle.

And to all the HATERS out there thinking I've been living in LaLa Land over the past week saying Randle can play the SF position - have a listen to Marcus Lee at 0.47min who said "He's a really great player, I honestly think he may be the next LeBron James".

Any question please direct them at PKM or Marcus himself.

TIA.

Coach Cal said that if he simply wanted to win basketball games this season (and not also focus on developing the players' games), then he would never have Randle be more than 7 feet away from the basket. You would never say that about LeBron. Comparing anyone to LeBron is just silly, imo.

I think Randle can certainly play some SF in college, and he probably will be fine seeing spot minutes there in the NBA against certain match ups, but he's a PF--a versatile PF, I'll give you that, but a PF none the less. He completely dominated inside against Mich St. His post moves are already better than Griffin's, Favors', and so on. He's not a guy you want floating out on the perimeter for the majority of the game, therefore, he's not a SF. Just.......let it go. Please. At least take it down a notch.

^Let me disagree with only ONE point. (The rest I agree with)

If you left Lebron in the paint at the college level he would be laughably unstoppable. That's more what Cal meant.. he wasn't saying Randle doesn't have perimeter skills, but more so that he's just to big, strong, and mentally tough to be handled in the paint.

Calipari told some close friends that last year's team that ALMOST beat Duke early in the season were high-fiving each other in the locker room because they felt it was a sign how good they would be.

Versus this year's team loses a close one to MIchSt and Cal said half the team was literally crying in frustration and that night ALL of them were in the gym practcing on their own to get better.

Even though mocks are pretty meaningless right now, it's still awesome to see the Jazz taking Andrew Wiggins on every single one. :)

Consensus worst team. Consensus best player.

Yep, pretty awesome.

How true is this still, in your opinion? Have you spoken to any scouts since the Tuesday games? I've read some claiming that lots of scouts now have Jabari #1, then other people (like Ford) claim that Wiggins is still the consensus top dog.

I haven't. It's not as solid as it was, but I think it's still pretty solid at this point... just my opinion doe.

As long as we draft Wiggins or Parker, I'll be happy. It's amazing that these dudes are only 18, walk on a college basketball court, and are the best players on their team. Tons of talent and they're only going to get better.

So here's to the Steph Curry diarrhea debacle that will land us the top two picks, which will result in us drafting both Wiggins and Parker.

So here's a question
Do Jazz have to get Wiggins or Parker to be a legit contender for next ten years?
Would Randle or Exum or Embiid or whoever be enough to contend?

Randle is a guy I think can lead a contender, too. It would be more complicated if we drafted Randle than it would if we got Jabari or Wiggins, cause we'd have to figure out what to do with Favors/Kanter, but he's definitely someone who would be a legit #1 pick in a normal draft.

Exum...not sure. Many scouts seem to be grouping him in with Wiggins/Parker/Randle, but I haven't seen enough of him to really say, tbh. If he IS on their level, then he'd fit in nicely at the 2 with Hayward at the 3.

Embiid seems to have major potential, but is several years away from being a major contributor (he just started playing basketball in 2011, I believe).

Was just reporting what Marcus Lee was saying....
