Following potential 2014 draftees

Imagine if Burke turns out to be decent, low TO's, 5-6 assists per game, shoots 40% from 3's...

We draft Jabari with our pick and package GSW pick & Hayward to move up and grab Aaron Harrison.

Favors
Kanter
Jabari
Aaron Harrison
Burke

That's a very very decent team going forward.

- Solid leadership in Burke & Jabari.
- GREAT shooting (potentially) from Burke, Aaron, Jabari and Kanter
- Slashers in Aaron and Jabari
- Decent size & defensive potential
- CHEAP, CHEAP, CHEAP

I think you're overestimating how high Aaron will be drafted. James Young, however, is already in Ford's Top 10.

I'd love it if we could package Burks and the GS pick to move up and grab Young.

Where do you think he'll go? I think Aaron will probably be picked somewhere between 10-16...

The GSW pick will probably be around #22... so we'll still need to give up something to move up. If we're not sold on Hayward and don't want to be in a bidding war to get him, then we should get something back for him IMO.

Or.....

Maybe it would be possible to move up for Andrew Harrison? His stock has fallen a bit, and most teams already have their PG. People say you always go BPA, but I think it's a little different with PG's. Look at Burke. He was pegged as a top 5 pick and fell all the way to 9 (and would have fallen further if we hadn't traded up to that spot) because teams already had their PG of the future. Then you factor in that Marcus Smart could very well be the first PG taken, and he might just fall far enough for us to move up for with the assets that we have.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think we'll be able to trade Hayward on draft day since he's entering FA?

I see Aaron going after the lottery. It's a deep draft.

We have a PG bro. ;) I like Smart at the 2 for us though.

I just checked and Andrew is currently at #15 on Ford's Big Board. He could climb back up draft boards by June, but I think it's at least a possibility that we could move up to the late lottery and snag him.

(I love Burke, but having them both on rookie contracts could be great....plus Neto.....)

Do it at the trade deadline then.

It'll also help the tank.

I'm open to the idea.

The FO defeinitely needs to make a decision on Hayward while they can still trade him, if they decide he's going to get a larger offer in free agency than they feel he's worth.

I believe you can do sign and trades (a la Brandon Jennings). Which with a team having his agency rights, makes all the sense in the world.

I just feel that if we have Burke, and let's say we get Jabari and Aaron Harrison - there's enough passing there to make Hayward redundant.

Hayward's value to me is that he does a bit of everything. But if you take away his passing, and you take away his shooting consistency, then what do you have?

He's not a beast rebounder.
He's not a lock down defender.
He's not an off the dribble slasher.
He doesn't get to the FT line...

I think the FO realised this and rightly decided not to get caught up in the hype.

No I say that he doesn't have it right now, else he'd be showing it. And I watched the whole game. These 2 seconds were the only he did it. Parker is average height for SF with good wingspan, but below average explosion/athleticism and strength. I don't see why he would be a dominant post player.
And I stated before I like the little things he did defensively. He'll be okay guarding 3s.

BTP, I don't understand why you don't think Parker is athletic. In the parlance of Steven A. Smith... "He's athletic enough." Most important is that he really has a feel for the game. He knows how to play. His basketball IQ is so obvious. and His poise for an 18 year old is special. And Bro, he is really strong. Grant Hill said that the thing that he was most impressed with about Parker was his strength. Hill said that in pick up games at Duke before the seasons started, he was bullying NBA guys in the post. grant Hill said that. What more do you want? Also, Bill Simmons said that when he saw Parker up close at the Champions Classic, he was huge and that he has Melo's thickness and Rudy Gays height. He's got those Polynesian genes. He'll fill out even more over time.

I'm willing to give Hayward some time. Besides Aaron Harrison is shooting under 40% FG and 24% from 3. I'll make up my mind in March though. I'm sure the Jazz FO will keep all options open to improve this team.

It's how much Hayward will cost that's also a consideration.

If we had gotten him for $9mil - yeah I'd be down with that. But if we have to be in a bidding war and matching a $12m offer - then there's no way I'd wanna keep him. Rather trade him and hopefully grab Andrew/Aaron Harrison in the process.

I'm of the opinion Hayward is worth no more then 11. If I'm going to trade him I'm going for defense, I'm going for Embiid. That brings up a question. How many points do you think Parker averages in the NBA?
