What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

Hibbert did have a great game offensively the other day. From what I've seen of Embiid he has soft hands around the rim, very athletic, but free throws are suspect (like every big man these days).

One thing I'd like to see is MaWilliams, Favors and Gobert together in longer stints on the floor. Gobert could be that defensive presence with Favors that the Jazz need.

I like the idea of trying to see what Gobert could do this year. What have we got to lose?!?!

I've long-time mocked the mocks for mocking Harrell in the mid lottery. Joke.
Today he plays the charmin-soft front court of UNC and fouls out with 5 points.

My thought process being, if Gobert can be the Jazz's Hibbert (12ppg, 9reb, 2.5blks) and The Jazz pick falls out of the top whatever(Please No!!!) The Jazz then have the decision to take Smart, Gordon, etc and maybe, MAYBE, pass on Embiid. Point is, if you don't find out this season, it will do little good next if you pass on a particular player.

Guys ..... GUYS!!!

With all the injuries going around the NBA at the moment, Curry, Iggy, Rose, Gasol, etc, etc, ...

How would you rank who will be the most "injury prone" of the potential top 5 pick: Jabari, Wiggins, Randle, Embiid, Exum?????

OK - let me start. Most injury prone ranking:

1. Jabari - he's slightly on the heavy side with his frame/height. So I would suspect there will be some pressures on those knees/joins/ankles.
2. Exum - his frame is just too slight ATM. I suspect he'll get banged up easily in the NBA. Not having played in college is also a problem.
3. Wiggins - those off the dribble moves must catch up with him sooner than later
4. Randle - looks pretty solid to me. Post-moves aren't too taxing on the body.
5. Embiid - seems very durable. He hasn't been playing basketball for long, so there's less pressures on those joints.

Conclusion: Jabari potentially the most injury prone of the bunch is a bit of a worry. High risk/High reward ... I suppose. He's not fail-safe as many here would have you believed, that's for sure.

Thoughts?????

I would be a little disappointed if the Jazz ended up with Smart, Gordon and even Embiid not because they aren't great prospects but the Jazz need to get a star player in the backcourt. I would love to get Embiid or even Gordon but the Jazz need to move one of these guys, Gobert Favors or Kanter if they bring in a fourth big.

Embiid and Exum
then Jabari and wiggins
then Randle

So would I, but I believe they have finally figured out there roster that has the best chance of winning(not saying they will, just the best chance of). If they end up with the 5th pick, it wold be nice to know what potential Gobert has before entering this particular draft.

It would be funny if the Jazz picks ANOTHER big when we already have Favors (3rd pick), Kanter (3rd pick), as well as Gobert and Evans.

If Wiggins and Randle are off the board, I'd consider Embiid and possibly be willing to trade one of the existing bigs. It depends on whether Embiid looks like a first-option scorer. Embiid is a real center. It's harder to get those than perimeter players generally. I don't see Parker as a first option on a championship team. I see the Carmelo/Paul Pierce comparisons. I'd rather have Embiid shooting from 8 feet than Parker shooting contested from 20.

The word need should have about a 1% weighting when drafting top 3 in this draft.

Could you please elaborate? Which part don't you agree?

I thought that was a pretty solid analysis, tbh.

everything you said has nothing to do about injuries. look at how they stretch, how tight their tendons are. their work out regimes. if they know how to fall.

weight is a little bit of a concern but Parker will get more fit. wiggins is pretty skinny. randle is buff. honestly I can't say just by looking if a player is injury prone.
