Ya spy, wassup
You still hate comps?
The new mock draft on ESPN has us taking Exum with the fifth pick, and Mario Hezonja with the GS pick. I would be stoked on that draft. Probably going to get Aaron Gordon though.
Stauskas projected in the 2nd. Somebody is not going to be very happy with that mock!
Jazz will never draft anyone named Shabazz.Napier from UConn would be a steal with our second round pick as well.
These guys also say we're getting Exum... and Gordon with the GS pick!

Wait, you say 1 but you list 2 things?
Also, I hate how people act like defending is only 1 skill, but there all these different offensive skills we can categorize. Gordon is skilled in every aspect of defense. He can guard perimeter, he can guard post, and he plays team defense. I would count that as 3 "skills".
He can run the floor, he has tremendous ball handling (coast-to-coast or in the half-court), he can obviously put on a highlight reel, he can pass and wants to, and has lot of intangibles.
Yeah he has some glaring weaknesses right now, but shooting is fixable. Hopefully the touch around the rim thing improves with his strength, which isn't a concern to me because his frame is good.

Napier sucks
But we did, didn't we? Technically speaking.
Agree.Yo I don't agree on his handles. I like Giannis handle way better. shooting is fixable. As I said I have never seen someone who shot so bad turn into an adequate shooter. And with adequate I mean 35+% 3 pointer on at least 2 trys per game, 75+% free throw shooting.
And sometimes I edit my posts midway thru and since I'm not getting paid writing one and enumerating two can happen. And regarding guarding the post. He can guard the post against weak NCAA guys, he can't vs NBA players as he lacks length and strength.
If he really had trememdous ball handling he'd get his shot off in college and would get more easy buckets. I'm afraid I don't see it. His attempted advanced handles are stopping the flow of his move.
I'm warming up to Dario Saric as a mid first-round pick if he can play the 3. He does a lot of things for a 6'10" guy, and his length could make up for some athletic limitations. Randle and Saric would be a solid draft.
Agree.
The problem I see with Hayward right now is the Jazz don't need a playmaker - that role should go to the PG. I guess if you want to switch things around, then by all means have a poor-shooting SG be the point, but you better have a Fisher-like PG (in his prime) who can hit open shots. And so far, Trey has not shown that ability.
Hayward is generally out of control on his drives. And by no stretch of the imagination is he Kirilenko-like on defense, despite showing he has become about as accurate as Andrei on the offensive side of the ball. I've been a HUGE Hayward apologist for quite some time. But the Jazz are now facing a franchise-defining moment. Give Gordon a contract in the $8M-$12M range (whatever it shakes out as) and the Jazz have defined him as a top-3 or 4 player on the team. Veteran SG's and SF's who connect at 40% are a dime a dozen. There are 44 in the league right now shooting at a better clip - and some for a helluva lot cheaper.
Intangibles? Puhleeze. That word is kind of like saying "he plays hard." Burks has just as many "intangibles." Alec drives and draws the defense. Hayward drives and draws giggles the way the ball is exposed.
Count me in with the crowd that thinks the proper move at this point is a sign-and-trade. Let Alec be the starting SG and bring in a free agent or draft pick as the starting SF. Hayward has shown terrible inconsistency despite playing 30+ mins season after season. Rather than improving, his shooting is on the decline. Perhaps this indicates a bigger problem in terms of his off-season work ethic. Too many video games? Not enough dedication to improving his game?
