What's new

Following potential 2014 draftees

Vonleh shoots less than 1 3-pointer a game. It's not like he's taking contested shots, just wide-open shots.

It's nice that he can make them, but it's really not a big part of his game.

Thomas Robinson looked so impressive scoring inside his last year at Kansas that I once compared him to Karl Malone. We can see how that turned out, and Randle doesn't look as impressive at the college level. What Randle can do possibly is be quick and explosive as a face-up player from 15 feet out, like a slightly poor man's Carmelo Anthony, assuming he keeps some of the quickness.

The problem is that Randle is neither quick or explosive. He relies on power and size on the college level to get his stuff done. He's a below-the-rim player with average athleticism and average wingspan. He's going to really need to work on his jumper if he wants to be a good starter.

He has taken twice as many since the beginning of the year compared to the first two months of the season. While I do agree with you that he is not going to sit out there and pop 3-4 a game, he has shown he has true stretch/power skills that could turn him into a rare type of player. Seems like the perfect complement to Favors.

I think he has a few more tools than he normally shows at Kentucky. I'd definitely lower expectations on Randle, but I think he's likely to be a rich man's Millsap rather than compare him to Patrick Patterson. He *should* still have the talent to be an All Star, imo.

His free throw pct is also promising. Hope he can extend that part of his game

Marvin had a very small sample size in college also (1.2 attempts), but made them at a 43% clip and it translated. Vonleh has a smaller sample size but hitting them at an incredible 54% clip, it could translate I think. Vonleh is decent damage control to a botched tank.

Williams' 3-pt % his first 3 years in the NBA:
25%
24%
10%

After that he pretty much stayed in the mid to low 30%'s, except for one year with ATL where he shot 39% and this year when he's been shooting 40%. It took Marvin quite a while to become an effect 3-point shooter.

I'm not saying Vonleh can't shoot, I'm just saying his 3-point percentage is misleading due to how many attempts he has. If anything, it shows that he should have a decent mid-range game in the NBA. I would be hesitant in saying that Vonleh would a legit threat from 3 in the NBA.

Trade Hayward and Kanter for Olynyk and first round unprotected. Draft Wuggins and Stauskypoo. Most Canadian NBA team evar.

Vonleh's shooting 56% from deep, not good enough for some posters... lol

as far as the Randle bashing going on in this thread, i really hate to pile on but id like to point out why i have soured a bit on Julius

#1 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYWEzvrd_bA

#2 - LSU. Randle scored 6points in the loss @ LSU... i was amped to see his response in the rematch... 8 points

anyway having Randle outside of the top 10 or top 5 is absurd he draws a ton of double teams, it will be interesting to see him transition into the league.

Interesting you didn't mention the 15 rebs or the game winning basket. Carry on.
