Following potential 2014 draftees

LOL.. what?

Even so, his shooting's still an issue for an SG.

You know this guy named Dwyane Wade can't hit a shot if he's more than 15 feet away from the basket. But he's doing other things so well it doesn't matter as long as his teammates provide enough spacing. There's also a couple successful but not overly successful shooting guards who can't hit a trey.
These guys named Monta Ellis and DeMar DeRozan shoot 30% but yet they find ways to contribute offensively. Lance Stephenson is shooting 33% and he's a big time playmaker and defender from the two spot. And I'm sure there's other guys I should have listed.

Marcus Smart may be the best defender in college right now, and he's certainly the best guard defender. While his shooting may not be great, it has improved while last year. Increased his assists while decreasing his turnovers, in addition to taking a larger role on the team. He is that teams heart and soul. He gets to the line easily, that's a skill that translates. He finishes at the rim, that's a skill that translates. He rebounds very well for a guard, that's a skill that translates. He defends his *** off, and he hustles more than any elite college player I've seen in a long time, that's a skill that translates. Put him in the open spacing of the NBA, and he's easily averaging 12/5/4 as a rookie, while providing excellent defense. That's a guarantee…you can quote me on that.

Getting to the line and finishing around the rim are skills that don't translate in every case. They translate very likely if you're like 70% on layups in the halfcourt in a conference filled with NBA bodies on your position. But then there's shooting 70% around the basket in the Sun Belt Conference ;)
Same with whistles. I'm very sure I can find lots of NBA players who don't get as many whistles per 36 as they did in college. That's very conditional on your superiority.

LOL, you're talking like you're some hot ****.

Your boi Derrick Williams, Biyombo and Otto Porter are still projects.

While you guys are throwing mud at each other don't forget the guy who wanted Luke Babitt over PG24 and Gordon Hayward and was very vocal about it and is very vocal in this thread lately. I won't name names.

LOL.. that's before my time. But don't tell me that it's Cy??????? (ONCE AGAIN!!)

As I said I don't wanna snitch ;) But there was an ancient thread recently bumped by UGLI or whoever is the bump commander. And it was good pre/post draft discussion about the 2010 guys.

I would never take my word as gospel on any draft pick. In that draft I really wanted the Jazz to get Xavier Henry, who is mediocre at best.

Whoah!! If He did indeed used to pump Babitt, then that completes the trifecta of The All-Great-Expectation-Team.

Luke Babitt, Derrick Williams, Otto Porter.

Dude you can't hate on Otto Porter yet. Guy had a bad injury in his rookie year. Bismarck Biyombo on the other hand ...

Meh found the thread again. It was Gyp. But I'd argue it's easy to mix up Gyp and Cy going by their douchery...

Double fixed

Smart will play both guard positions.

I think he can play with Burke. I also think a Smart/Burks combo would be an interesting back court combo.

Dont forget about hayward and neto.

While we still lack a small forward or depth in our bigs rotation.

Same here. Smart is the "worst" player I hope the Jazz end up with. I think his fire will translate into success in this league.

FWIW (and it's probably worth nothing) nbadraft.net has the Jazz taking Smart and Stauskas in the draft. I'd be pretty happy with that myself. At the very least it would add some character to this team, for better or worse.

Great, then we have burke, neto, burks, hayward, smart, stauskas, and garrett at the 1 and 2.

Hypothetical: if the Lakers get the #2 pick and offer it to Utah for Favors and Burke, do you do it? In this scenario the Jazz also get the #3 pick.
