Following potential 2014 draftees

Check this out from Kevin Pelton's chat. More dumping on Harrison Barnes. Worth tanking for? Kinda makes me laugh.

I saw Thorpe wrote up on the disappointing sophomores. What do you make of Harrison Barnes' issues this year? We all know he's still young, but is it just confidence issues or is the system around him lacking in some way?

Kevin Pelton
I don't think he's very good at basketball. I mean relative to the world, obviously he is, but he didn't rate well in college and has rated well in the NBA for about a month last April/May. That's a long time to live off an assessment of potential from his senior year of high school, and it seems to overwhelm systems, etc.

Remeber who was mega down on Barnes when he came out? (it was me)

So there seems to be a consensus top eight, in no particular order.

Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, Vonleh, Gordon, Randle, Exum, Smart

Anybody know of any other players that could be picked ahead of any of these dudes?

tbh, I want a top 3 pick, but I'll be fine as long as we get one of the top 6 dudes, which to me are all those dudes minus Smart and Vonleh

I wear out at five. Exum or Gordon would be okay. Really I just want Wiggins because I'm SELFISH

Updated...

Just played ESPN's lotto machine 20x. Note that this is with the Jazz in the #4 lottery position.
Most Likely Player: Randle (40%), Parker (20%), Embiid (15%), Smart (10%), Wiggins (10%), Exum (5%)
Most Likely Draft Position: Top 3 (35%), #5 (30%), #6 (25%), Stay at 4 (10%)

ESPN thinks the Jazz's board is currently:
1) Parker
2) Wiggins
3) Embiid
4/5) Exum/Randle (not clear which is #4)
6) Smart

Results:
(drop to 5) Randle
(win #1) Parker
(drop to 6) Randle
(drop to 6) Smart
(drop to 5) Randle
(drop to 5) Exum
(win #3) Embiid
(drop to 5) Randle
(win #2) Parker
(drop to 6) Smart
# # #
(stay at 4) Embiid
(win #1) Parker
(stay at 4) Embiid
(drop to 6) Randle
(win #1) Parker
(win #2) Wiggins (Celtics took Parker #1)
(drop to 5) Randle
(drop to 6) Randle (Magic took Smart #5)
(win #3) Wiggins (Celtics took Parker #1, Kings took Embiid #2 - not sure I'd believe this.)
(drop to 5) Randle

Wow, I guess that means Wiggins is a NO.

Played lottery machine on ESPN 10 times:

first THREE times in a row.........number 1 pick. 4 total times (~40%, give or take)

2) once

3) once

4) once

5) 3 times

I did 10 more reps and updated my results.

ESPN currently thinks that Jabari Parker is #1 on both Utah's and Boston's board.
ESPN thinks that Utah's board goes 1) Parker, 2) Wiggins, 3) Embiid and 4) Randle or Exum (not clear which is #4)
ESPN thinks that Orlando will take Smart at #4 if Exum is off the board, allowing Randle to drop to #5 or #6.
ESPN thinks Exum goes top 4 in virtually all scenarios.
ESPN thinks Sacramento would take Embiid over Wiggins if both are available to them.

If Parker is number 1 on the Jazz board then I might switch teams

Don't worry, he's not. The media wants him to be cause it would make a good story for the Mormon kid to go to Utah.

Lindsey seems serious about building a defense-first team. I'm very confident he likes Wiggins and Embiid better. Maybe Exum too.
