Following potential 2014 draftees

If the doctors are confident that Embiid's back issues are behind him, I would put him over Parker as well. Wiggins and Embiid are both OUTSTANDING 2-way players.

I'm in the circle?!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!

Thanks Rev!

So you're saying he can guard SGs. And you think based on this he would start over Burks? Is he going to score much, or is he supposed to be our version of Thabo Sefolosha?

Lance Stephenson

I don't necessarily think Smart > Burks, but I like defense in the starting lineup.

And it's not like he's just a defensive specialist. You do realize he averaged 18/6/5/3, right?

Harrison Barnes is only 21. Is everyone going to give up on him already?

wrong crowd to ask. We all want to give up on the Warriors -- for their past transgressions and for the sake of the future assets that we hold. I hope Harrison Barnes' NBA career is short and futile (as long as he plays for the Warriors).

So moving on to scenarios...

Jazz draft Wiggins: Wiggins starts at the wing with Hayward, replacing Richard Jefferson. No roster changes needed.

Jazz draft Embiid: Embiid starts at the 5 when he's ready. Favors or Kanter comes off the bench. Gobert gets limited minutes and gets miffed.

Jazz draft Parker: Parker starts at the SF unless he gets roasted on defense, in which case he starts at the PF with Kanter coming off the bench.

Jazz draft Exum: Exum likely starts at SG when he's ready. Hayward moves to the SF. Kanter likely starts at PF.

Jazz draft Randle: Randle starts at PF with Kanter coming off the bench. Kanter is probably a bit pissed. Either Randle or Kanter could eventually get traded.

Jazz draft Gordon: Gordon probably comes off the bench until he learns to shoot a bit.

Jazz draft Smart: Probably Smart backs up both guard positions. If he really should be the starter, then someone probably gets moved.

Ive been wondering about the aftermath of the Jazz selecting Embiid..

would Favors start next season at C? or does he immediately slide to PF

does Gobert get another year of d-league/garbage minutes

how would Enes and Embiid work?

would the Jazz consider starting Embiid on limited minutes?

with Favors and Kanter playing more PF does that close the door on Marvin?

PF: Favors, Evans, Kanter
C: Embiid, Kanter, Gobert, Favors

is that enough? probably needs a SF that can switch to PF

Kanter is more skilled offensively, can play better out on the floor and can pass better than Favors. I think the Jazz would consider moving Favors as well.

Last 5 years by that definition: Lebron, Kobe, Durant, Wade, Nowitzki, Rose, KG, Nash, Parker, Duncan, CP3, Amare (prime), Yao, Dwight (2010), Curry (last year), probably Carmello, probably Pau Gasol, maybe Harden, maybe Westbrook...

Next Tier: Brandon Roy (peak), Paul Pierce, Paul George, Blake Griffin (starting this year), Aldridge, Love

Interesting

Not pitchig in for "Wiggy".

*Confirmed*

You flock your jersey with UGLI Wigs and wear the fitting accessoire on your head.

Don't worry, he's not. The media wants him to be cause it would make a good story for the Mormon kid to go to Utah.

Lindsey seems serious about building a defense-first team. I'm very confident he likes Wiggins and Embiid better. Maybe Exum too.

Why did he trade up for Trey Burke then?
I'd totally hate it if Dieng would end up being a good NBA pro and the Jazz could have taken Adetokunbo with #14 as well. That would be turrible!

I have a feeling now that Alfense is no longer here we may have Enefense or Kantfense pretty soon...

Don't have to worry. Jazz will NOT darft Embiid, no matter where they land. The back troubles are a HUGE red flag. It is definitely an extremely high risk/high reward pick. In a draft this deep, whichever GM misses on a top-10 pick could find himself out of a job. And of all the players, I think Embiid has the biggest chance of being a miss. 1) He's still raw; 2) Will he stay healthy?

Jazz already have Favors and Kanter inside, with a promising defensive prospect in Gobert. If they draft a big, I think it more likely they go with a PF like Vonleh or Randle. If Wiggins and Parker went off the board first and the Jazz had the #3, I think they'd either trade down 1-2 spots or just take Exum.

I'm worried about his ability in a halfcourt set. He wasn't that great even in college in these situations.

Also, I think a lot of this teams defensive inabilities is due to how horrible the Jazz are at offense. Bad shots and turnovers are easy buckets for the opposition no matter who you are. They need to improve a lot of areas, not just defense.

I'd be okay with Smart though. I think he'll be more of an asset initially than most rookies, but I'm not sure I like his long-term potential as much as most people here.
