Following potential 2014 draftees

Wasn't the exact same said about Favors?

favors is our enforcer in the middle. loved the way he defended randolph and gasol the other night. i'm still very high on favors.

gordon - can guard 2 through 3 sometimes 4 for us. so gordon will bring another dimension to our defense. great motor, big heart, and very good athleticism. intangibles, intangibles, intangibles. i really don't mind him. just love the way he defends. he is #6 on my list, but honestly i think he is the best fit if we don't land the big 3.

smart - if he nails the combine and comes in big and strong then i don't mind smart. our back court will be small, but we should improve our scoring.

randle - with favors and randle, i think we will instantly have dynamic front court. formidable. kanter's minute will be reduced. kanter will have to be our omer asik when asik was with the bulls. but in the west, big bully teams doesn't work well. west has too many run and gun teams.

exum - i just don't have enough on exum. i like the idea of having a little tmac or young penny who will play combo for us. but i think he is a project. he won't be able to contribute immediately. and i'm not that patient.

Nope
favors was drafted by new jersey

LOL. Right.

And we didn't trade our franchise player (which was the crowning jewel of that trade) with the intent that Favors would be a defensive stopper and his offense would catch up?

And no one here on this board every single week since he was acquired hasn't been discussing how Favors will be/is our defensive stopper and his offense will eventually "catch up?"

So we want to draft a guy who only has dunk range and an incredibly raw offensive game so he can defend 2-3 and sometimes a 4? And just what exactly do we do on offense? Play 3 on 5 until Favors and Gordon develop offensive games?

The highlight reel dunks and raw athleticism might be clouding some peoples' judgement here. Being a great combine participant doesn't always mean you'll be a great nba player.

*get something rather than nothing (and 'something' was pretty good)

I am not nearly as high on Gordon as some/most here... but this is a little silly. What the Jazz need is an identity and a defensive identity would be a good place to start.

For anyone who is seriously bitching about our return on D-Will, imagine if we had just rode it out with him instead and had re-signed him to a max deal. Jesus, that would be awful.

Favors, Kanter, being bad enough to get Burks, Part of Burke>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>D-will.

Which they'll never have with Coach Ty leading the way.

If he can figure out his FT's I think there is a decent chance he is a lot like Marion, who would be a hell of a pick past 3 or 4.

I wouldn't put him over any of the offensively elite prospects, but he can definitely impact a game even when his shot isn't falling.

I agree.

But the bandwagon I've seen over the past week or so for Gordon has reached silly heights.

As badly as we need to improve on defense we need to bring in a go to player. A franchise offensive player that we can run our offense through. I'd feel a lot more confident in our future going with Parker, Wiggins, or Randle than with Gordon.

I'd be very very happy getting Gordon at #6.

But to pick him over Wiggins, Jabari, Embiid, Exum and Randle (in that order) would be reaching, IMO.

I'm pretty sure EVERYONE (except maybe Cy) would take Wiggins and Parker over him. Randle scares me a little but I would think he would fall in the tier with Gordon and Smart and it's mostly a matter of preference.
